When I first heard about the "wii-mote" and saw the pics of it, I was like wow, is nintendo purposely trying to fail? Then as I learned more, my thoughts completley changed. As most of you may know, the controller is motion sensored, and all of the gameplay will be based on motion, for the most part. The main controller is just the remote itself, but it will also come with the analog attachment which also has motion sensing capabilities. The graphics will not be as good as the PS3 or the 360 but they are certainly improved. Despite the fact that the other two systems have considerably better graphics, the wii makes up for it in other ways. Also, this means a much smaller price tag. The PS3 comes in two versions, one with 20gigs that costs a $500, and a 60gig version that costs $600. While the 360 costs $300 and $400 for it's two versions. The wii however, will cost $200 or less. Nintendo hasn't officially confirmed it, but it can be pretty much guaranteed that it's under $200. Then the there is "Virtual Console", which will allow you to d/l all the old games from the Nintendo, the Super Nintendo, the N64, the Turbo GFX 16, the Gamecube, and also some of the best sellers from the sega genesis. The console itself has a gamecube disc drive, and a regular disc drive. There will also be four controller ports and memory card slots for the gamecube. As for the controller and games, that's what most excites me about the Wii. When you play a game like tennis, would you rather push a button, or actually swing your hand like a tennis racquet? This new kind of gameplay will make games a lot more fun to play. You'll wield it like a sword, swing it like a bat, or turn it sideways and turn it like a steering wheel. The wii controller also has a built in speaker that gives you depth of sound. For example if you are playing a game where you shoot a bow, the sound of the arrow wizzing through the air will go from your controller to the t.v., making it seem as if the arrow was really traveling through the air. What I am most anticipating is madden for the wii. It's going to be incredible. To hike the ball, you pull the controller towards you as if you were receiving the snap. To throw, you pick your receivers using the buttons on the wiimote and then make a motion like you were throwing a pass, the speed of your throw determines a lob or a bullet. To kick, you hold the controller down, and making a scooping motion up as if your arm was a kickers leg.More about Madde on the Wii here. All this motion doesn't mean you are going to be flailing your arms around the room and working up a sweat when you play a game. The motions don't have to be exaggerated and any one can pick it up and play. I've read many articles about people who have played it and what I hear time and time again was that it was very responsive, intuitive, and easy. Anyways, I'm not a Nintendo fanboy in any way, I think they made a lot of mistakes with the gamecube. I'm just someone who likes whatevers best at the time, and I believe that if you want good graphics and some media features and you also can shell out the extra cash, go with the 360 or PS3, but if you really want to have fun playing a game, and also get a chance to play the games you played when you were little, then go for the wii.

Nintendo's Wii to woo U.S. in November
Nintendo plans to begin selling its Wii video game console in the United States on Nov. 19, the company said Thursday.
The date is a few weeks ahead of its launch in Japan, as it girds for a three-way showdown this holiday-shopping season against Microsoft and Sony. The Japan-based company, once the game industry leader and renowned for its Mario Bros. franchise, plans to sell the Wii in the U.S. for about $250, as expected, with games priced at about $50 each. Nintendo plans to ship 4 million Wii units globally, with the lion's share allotted to the U.S. market, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime said at a New York event Thursday. The company said 30 games will be available for the Wii by year's end, with about half at launch. Nintendo said it will start selling the Wii on Dec. 2 in Japan for 25,000 yen ($212), making it the third and last major game maker to bring a next-generation console to market.
