help me out nation xbox 360 elite or PS3? I need to make a choice by Friday

Hi guys before I invest $500-600 in a system I would like to get your input. You see my mom is hooking me up with a nice $1000 gift for getting a job. I want to go to best buy and pick up a system on Friday. The question is should I go with the XBOX 360 Elite, or the PS3? I think the elite is $500 and the PS3 is $500 as well for the 60GB if I'm not mistaken. Or perhaps it is worth $600?

Anyways I really don't care about the price but some of my friends had problems with their XBOX 360. I'm not much of a one person shooter kind of guy so games like Gears of War and Halo probably don't cut it for me. I like more sports games and action RPG games. Also does the PS3 have online play? I know XBOX does.

From what you said about sports and RPG games, I'd recommend the 360. I haven't had the cash flow to get the other two yet so I can only really say that I've had a lot of fun on my 360.

But I'd also like to point out the following:
Its all a crap shoot. The more complicated the machine, the more possible problems. I've had to send in PS1, PS2, Gamecube, XBox, and X360.

The 360 has the current widest selection of games and the best warranty (fixes known problem for 3 years, no need to purchase an extra warranty).

Ps3 will catch up on the games front but they also have some problems.

At first i was gonna say hands down get a xbox 360 but you said you didnt like gear of war and halo that much. which those are great games. yer more into sports and RPG's games so go with ps3 plus you can play online for free. but madden 08' is better on the 360 rite cuz the xbox is running on 60fps and ps3 is running at 30fps. i used to not like xbox but now i love it. but its all on you man.

Get a 360 Premium. I love the Xbox. You dont need the Elite unless you want a black console and/or the bigger HDD. HDMI is now included on the regular Premium now. Bought mine and LOVE it.

I just bought the 360 recently. Before I was a big fan of Playstation and when my PS2 broke down I bought a used XBOX because I found out that I can mod it to save games in the harddrive. I always thought my next stop would be PS3 hands down. But after reading and looking around I decided to get the 360.

Until now I never had any problems with it. I bought the one with HDMI port. I play for hours at times and it never heats up. So if you're thinking about getting the Elite I dont think you'll have any problems with it. By the way I was a fan of Sony in general, but I dont think they give it their all anymore. Big headed a**holes lol

I would go with the Elite.

i have all 3 major systems and the one i use the most is my 360.. this is my 3rd unit and it gets alot of usage the 1st one died but it was my fault .. the second one was a little glitchy when i got it from microsoft so i exchanged it.. this one has been great it is on alot one game i play keeps track of the hours you play and i have well over 1000 on it plus twynkye's time and she is in the 800 range..

I'll sell you my X-Box 360 with the Oakland Raider Faceplate.....Premium Version 20GB. 4 games....wireless controller blah, blah...had it like 4 or 5 weeks. No time to play though.

its all about the games..gotta go wit 360..even though it can be a bytch...some people have no problems wit it..if ur game starts freezing often thats a sign of it dying...just a heads up...but halo and gears of war? cant beat that...

Ok you guys talked me into it I"m going to go with the XBOX360, but I might just fork over the extra money for the primium. I"ll give gears of war and Halo 3 a chance. It seems like the are just getting rave reviews. I also want toget madden 08 nc 08 and EA Tiger woods 08.

For sports games 360 wins hands down. EA sports doesn't seem to care about ps3 much. They didn't make much effort to have madden run @ 60fps like the xbox 360 does.

gears is the best game i ever played but everyone is on halo right now...ive played gears since like january and like it as much as i did when i first played it...how many games can u say are like that? Nothing but maybe madden for me. Halo has some sick game modes though. One where 1 of 16 people starts infected as a zombie. when he kills anyone else, they become a zombie. zombies can run as fast as the warthog lol. fun as hell.
*** you gotta get live though. makes the games soooooo much better. I know people that hate 360 because they dont have live...single player gets boring at some point. If youre stuck playing single player youll end up spending more and more $$ on games when online games will last so much longer. I have only like 4 games. Nba2k7, gow, saints row, and madden. When my 360 gets fixed im getting halo. I know people that have like 20 games and i just dont know why u need that many lol.. point is: GET LIVE

I wouldn't get the elite. No need for that 120 gig hd and the premiums come with HDMI now. Premium is your BEST option. I have an elite and will NEVER use the full hd space, i5ts a waste

X360 hands down, id rather spend $600 on a BLU-Ray player.
