ring of death xbox 360's & ebay

There are getting to be quite a few 360's on ebay that say they are under warranty. i was wondering if anyone here knows if that would be a good deal to get one or just pony up the extra couple hendred bucks and get a "fresh" one. ive seen the core systems on ebay for as low as $100 - $150. any thoughts or opinios is greatly appreciated.

Buy them, and just do the X clamp fix. You will have a perfectly working 360 for very very cheap. 3 rings of death really isn't that hard to fix.

call me stupid but what is the x clamp fix. i have had nothing but playstations and i wanted the ps3 but i just got ebay for sh*ts and giggles and see what they had. i saw the xboxes for cheap and still under warranty and started thinking.

Before you do the xclamp fix call 18004myxbox and see if the console is registered if it isnt they will fix the red ring of death for free. Even if it is registered maybe you can bargain with them. They are adding an extra heat sink on those that are newly fixed so that should help make it more secure.

And dont listen to those saying get the ps3 lol xbox sucks crowd i had the system from launch and it broke once and i got it back in a week. Some of these xbox sucks crowd were silent when ps2's were breaking down and the xbox 1 was built like a sherman tank.

The only thing holding the xbox down is the quality of the system at this point but that will get fixed once they shrink the cpu and add the extra heat sink.

Man, I just got the ring of death today. I was trying to watch a movie and got the three red lights!

I guess I gotta find my receipt. But what if I can't find it???? Damn!@
I'll have to call 8004myxbox first and see what they tell me. Are they open 24 hours??? And where do I send it to fix it???

It's easy to do but it could take a while.

You call that number and a automated messenger thing named Max will talk and you will have a set of options that he speaks about and you say whichever one that relates to the problem

sooner or later you should get to a support person and you hope they speak clear English tell them your situation (the 3 red lights)

They will try to get you to go through the troubleshooting to see what the problem is.

Once they find out there is nothing you can do, you give them your information and they will send you a UPS box that you put your 360 in for repairs. They should also give you the UPS tacking #.

After that box comes to you follow the instructions on it and take it to a UPS place.

Not hard to do but like I said it takes a while.

They told me 4-6 weeks for the entire process but I was lucky and will have it by Wednesday. By the time it gets to my house it will be a total of 22 days total that I waited.
