The FIFA Club World Cup kicked off last night. The tournament features the best teams from each continent.

Usually this competition has no significance to me, but my team, Adelaide United, qualified for it. This is an amazing achievement for Adelaide, as they have a salary cap of only 1.5 million AUD, compared to 20+ million that bigger clubs such as Gamba Osaka have to spend on their players.

Adelaide United won their first game of the tournament against Waitakere United, 2-1. On Saturday US time, Adelaide faces Gamba Osaka in a re-match of the Asian Champions League final. The winner of that match faces Manchester United in the semi-final of the tournament.

Hopefully the reds will get revenge against Gamba, leading to a headline "Minnows to battle top club in the world."
