Thoughts on Madden '09

I just got Madden '09 and I think it is a pretty good game. I'm interested to see what you guys thought of it. I thought the only things that changed from Madden '08 were the rosters, the songs, the gameplay and the graphics. Not much else is different. I find it an enjoyable game but I'm struggling to keep on consistently getting first downs! I find it is hard to run the ball and it is also hard to pass the ball unless the receiver is way away from everyone. Russell and McFadden become really good later in franchise mode, and the funny thing for me was that in my franchise, Tyvon Branch won defensive player of the year in the NFL and AFC in his rookie year!

I find it hard to run as well, but what really helps in the running game is shifting the protection to the side where ur RB is running to..
As for passing its great for me! J Russ has been great my fav receiver is Schilens! put him in the slot & he'll make big Catches 4 u

the main problem i have with this game is sometimes the players just stop. i gave up countless long gains because my dbacks would just stand there doing nothing while the ball flew by their heads. another thing is that my dbacks wont catch interceptions! most of the time the ball would fly right into aso or hall's hands but they still wouldnt make the int. thats why aso and hall lead the league in pass deflections in my franchise. i think aso has 17 and hall 19 or something and im only in the 12th week! and dont get me started with freezing issues.

I ordered a region-free copy from Hong Kong for €32 (~$48) which is really the maximum I wanted to spend for a Madden game. From what I've seen so far, it's an okay game. I'm still waiting for a "new" Madden though, if you know what I mean.

LOL what more do you want??? Gameplay is everything. It certainly isn't perfect but from your description its a completely different game. Rush offense is difficult but you gotta mix up playcalling and find the plays that are effective for you. Defense against the cpu is easy on ths game. My OL gets me killed sometimes though, especially off playaction.

It is what it is....madden. At first it was a little different and tougher than in years past but now I have the hang of it and it's pretty easy. Running isn't hard with Mcfadden,Fargas or Bush and when they want to blitz the hell out of you to stop the run I expose their pass D. My defense usually makes some kind of play and I use Burgess alot and he does really well. I've been playing online alot and I have a pretty good record. 32-6 not bad....

I have yet to play franchise (I'm addicted to online matches lol) so I can't comment on it.

Honestly, I got bored with it. Something is just missing. It doesnt pull you back in to play more. I believe its the horrible presentation and lifeless atmosphere. I went back to playing NCAA 09 and after patch#2 that recently came out on 360, this game is awesome and the presentation is leaps and bounds better than Madden. It makes you wanna come back to play more.

Got bored after I went through 2 seasons in Franchise mode, but that's probably because I bought it for PS2. Still waiting for the next roster update.

Ive played about 25 games online......and ive played about...4 or 5 games on franchise...

I love the game...however...its nothing that makes me go....OMG i cant wait till i get off work to play Madden....LOL.

Got the game today after coming back from holiday, good game possibly the best one so far, but I still think EA can do loads more to make it much better
