Some help in Madden

a lot of good players put 9, 10, 11 in coverage on passing downs if u cant rocket catch. my RC is bad offline and non existent online. This is the hardest madden ever for me.

I never played madden ever. my last console was sega genesis.
Damn this game is hard!

I can't audible fast enough on defense.
Cant stop the quick pass for chit
o-line doesn't give me enough time to make reads. I just hit a button and cross my fingers
forget about trying a play action. might as well down the ball in the backfield.

It appears that if you want to be successful you've got to be the Patriots or get your butt kicked. You guys are actually competitive using the Raiders online?

Just practice and find stuff that works for you. Practice mode and just playing normal games can work wonders. It takes time to get good. You'll get the hang of it.

Also you don't have to use the Pats to be competitive. The only team I use in madden is the Raiders and I'm 34-6. Some people have higher records than that with the Raiders.

I love playing against the patriots. People try to cheese it up with them, but doesn't work against the like of T. Howard and Morrison.

The raiders are the only team I roll with.

Most top madden players would agree Oakland is one of the best teams on madden. Their defense has the most speed which means everything in madden. I think Al Davis must have some input on this game lol. I personally hate oaklands offense bcause i never have time with that OL although the rest of the offense is above average. Youve got a mobile qb with a cannon arm, a stud RB, and some tall Wideouts not to mention a couple burners buried on the depth chart.

Those Raiders aint no joke on this game but I have been getting mashed by mainly the Browns. Joe Thomas just kills anyone I put over there including Burgess. No pash rush against Winslow Jr. and Edwards spells problems!! lol

If you need any tips at Madden I can help you out. I've been going to tourneys since '03. To stop the run, the main thing is knowing their tendencies. If they run between the tackles, use man coverage plays for LB's. If they run tosses or any play outside the tackles, use zone D's(for LB's). Madden has been like this for a few years now. You'll quickly see a huge difference knowing this. Also move your MLB's a step or two before the play. If you leave them where the cpu puts them, they'll usually get blocked quickly. I don't recommend blitzing much vs run unless you have a hot blitz that's unstoppable.

Rick is right on the money. IF you leave the backers where the cpu leaves them, forget it. Of course on ps3 you dont have time for all of them.

How do you ser catch in this years madden? I cant get the RC animation down. I only get it like 1 out of 10 times lol

pass defense is hard.
I assume when a pass is made you guys switch to the player near the ball while the pass is in the air right? Thats dangerous cause when i switch i never know what direction to move the player until you see the pass and it usually makes the man lose a step or two. Should i just let the cpu do its job?

Sometimes I just click on and press a(swat) blindly lol especially if I know I have help over the top. I also like to patrol with a LB or safety underneath sometimes. If you know they are passing PASS COMMIT. It increases pressure and makes the ai much smarter.

For some reason you're suppose to hold LT(or L2) the whole time. Ok here's the steps for RC. When you hike ball, hold down LT the whole time. Let WR get about 25 yards down field. Press down on stick and throw a bullet. As soon as you throw ball, click on WR and press down(this will turn WR around). After you click on to WR, hold down the "Y" button. Remember to hold LT while doin all of this. Some people say to throw a lead pass, but that seems to be tougher to do. Go in practice mode and work on it.

It's all about the strafe button(LT or L2). When you click on your DB, hold down strafe to get into position. If you're still a few yards away from the ball, let go of strafe for a sec and then press it again. Even if you're not right on the ball, your player will still turn his hips or leap for the ball when strafe is being used. Tap "Y" or triangle right before the ball gets there. Try doin some one on one drills in practice mode to get your stick-work down.
