I can't wait for it to come out. This is the first Madden in about 5 years that I think you may be able to roll with them and be competitive. Yes, the line still sucks, but there are a lot of weapons.

On the bright side of this whole Walker signing, at least we have a good WR in a video game.

Curry finally got some respect too.


Can't wait for Head Coach as well, should be fun calling plays for all weapons we're getting.

McFadden will be amazing in Madden 09. He's the highest rated rookie starting out at 85 overall. One of the Madden ranking guys wrote a piece for the producer blog that talks about rating McFadden. It's pretty cool.


Here's what he said:

How do I rate him? Darren McFadden - Oakland Raiders

When the ratings smoke cleared Darren McFadden joined Jake Long at the top of the 2009 draft class at 85 Overall. In another year he could have been the top pick in the draft, but the teams picking ahead of the Raiders did not need running back help and McFadden had minor character concerns, so those contributed to him being selected #4 and going to Oakland. The bottom line is on gameday he was the fastest player on the field in college playing in the SEC and has the stopwatch speed to back it up. A major knock on McFadden would be his skinny legs, and whether he can run inside and take the pounding of NFL defenders while running upright. Good case scenario: Not-as-physical Adrian Peterson; Bad case scenario: Year 2 Reggie Bush, running upright like Chris Brown. NFL defenses might be smart enough to bottle up McFadden, but your Madden opponents won't be as effective. That is why he tops the rookies at the overall rating; his ability to change the game with his playmaking ability and speed. Here is a quick recap of his playmaking ratings going into Madden 09:

Speed - 97 - He ran the 40 at the combine in the 4.3's and looked incredibly natural running it just like he did at Arkansas. Other guys have put up faster 40's at the combine (some with their heads down or looking completely out of control). The difference is McFadden showed week after week his big play ability in the strongest conference in college football with defenses focused solely on stopping him because of Arkansas' limited ability to pass the ball. Gimmick college offenses are more prolific and he likely won't be taking plays in the Razorhog 72 yards up the middle but he still will be fast.

Acceleration - 99 - If you saw his short shuttle it was amazing how fast he got going and this should be the main reason he will break long runs in the NFL. If he can get in space and is able to make that burst in space he will be outrunning a lot of linebackers and safeties at the NFL level. No player might be his equal in his ability to reach top speed or accelerate once he sees the hole.

Trucking - 72 - This is the big question mark going into his rookie campaign. This guy will be in the weight room early on but whether he will be able to fall forward is in question. If he can't move the pile or goes down immediately it will make him much easier to stop and greatly limit how well he can perform.

This would be the part where I would include some runs from Darren McFadden when he ran for 300+ against South Carolina which included some of the most impressive runs I have ever seen and they were all in the same game. I couldn't include this video but watch the burst at 1:43-1:45. I don't see anyone being on par with him as far as burst goes.

I am really excited for this years madden. I will be putting Mcfadden EVERYWHERE. It's going to be fun man.

If he turns out to be a HEALTHY and not quite as physical Adrian Peterson I would be happy as hell. I know Peterson has only played one year but the guy is legit and the world knows it. Dude has HOF skills and it's only been one year. It's scary. I pray Mcfadden can do that.(Probably not in his first year but a year or two down the road...)
