Madden 09 and the Raiders

in Madden 08, the Raiders, with updated rosters, had a decent secondary. lots of speed but lots of completed passes. The only real playmaker back there was Nnamdi. Fabian was fast but couldn't cover.
The run defense was much like the real defense in Oakland. Terrible. It is simple to run through the Raiders defense in Oakland.

So I have just finally made all the roster updates minus the rookies for both the Raiders and the Chargers. While the loss of the Lorenzo Neal did hurt the Chargers running attack, using Kelly at DT with Sands really shored up the Raiders run d up the middle.

As far as the pass D goes, that's where its fun. The slightest QB error is heavily paid for now.

This is what Rivers see's from left to right when he drops back and looks downfield:

Asomugha, Huff, Wilson, Hall.

What he doesn't always notice is Morrision and Howard sitting in a zone underneath...both with a nack for taking the ball away.

The pass defense is AMAZING. Hall and Nnamdi always get a pick in every game...against the CPU or the a human opponent playing on All Madden. In a Nickle Velcro Zone coverage, the QB has to be EXTREMELY accurate and hit the WR/TE/RB at the perfect time, otherwise it's incomplete or INT.

As for the run defense, while the middle is strong the edges aren't. But Nnamdi, Hall, & Wilson tackle really well on the edges and have the speed to stop a RB from getting loose.

When the QB is passing, Kelly is such a force in the middle and it really frees up Burgess to get going.

Offense:

Walker is like a supercharged Jerry Porter. He is faster, jumps higher, and catches better. Carter is basically a Gabriel and Curry is Curry.

The offensive line, with Wade starting is better, but not that much better. The line is much better at run blocking than pass blocking.

But atleast on offense this year, the Raiders have a chance to put some points up. Before you could still score, but it was a lot more work than most other teams.

The defense really steals the show this year though. Hall and Wilson really gave us a boost and having Stu and Routt to back them up provides some really good depth. Same goes for Hartwell backing up Morrison.

huff was hugely overrated in last years madden, and yes i have noticed the run defence be preety bad but not as bad as real life. in all-madden ofcourse =D

He may or may not have a huge one, but McFadden is going to impact our offense. He's going to allow Kiffin to open up his playbook. Plus, with Michael Bush healthy, and Fargas coming off a good season, our backs will cause a lot of headaches.

I always like to hear what happens on Madden. I know this sounds silly but just the same it's interesting. They always have that Madden contest before the SuperBowl and whomever wins usually has a good streak in the actual SuperBowl game. Remember Oakland lost this to tampa bay before the actual game.

Thanks for the post. Should be very interesting. Personally I think it's going to be the most exciting season since the bowl.

Too bad madden isn't real life...i can get 10 int's and score 200 points a game..CHAMPIONSHIP!

umm...no you can't. maybe in 07 when the raiders had randy moss....before all the roster updates....but you can't score 200 in a game anymore or get 10 ints unless you're playing a retarded human opponent....and in that case it still would be insanely difficult to pull off.

It all depends the level you are playing and the quarter length. I play All-Madden level with 4 minute quarters and the accelerated clock and I still average 50 pts per game. I would imagine at an easier level and longer quarters 200 points would be easily attainable. I can score with any player, any time on offense, just a matter of reading the defense before the snap and right after the snap to determine the coverage. Reading the safeties off the snap and putting a man in motion will tell you all you need to be able to get the ball out in a matter of seconds to the open man.

I also play online sometimes and I used the last roster update but I also made all the transactions that have taken place this off season.

Then I exported the draft class from NCAA 08.

McFadden came out but a lot of other positions had different people as higher draft prospects. I

started a Madden 08 franchise and selected all 32 teams so I could draft who I wanted.


Brohm was the best QB coming out and he was a top 5 pick. I gave him to the Falcons.

Long was not the best DE coming out nor was Dorsey the best DT. I gave the best DE to the Rams and the best DT to the Chiefs.

I did that for the 1st round but let the computer do the rest. That still was a lot of damn work though!!

I allowed the first season to simulate and the Raiders went to the AFC championship game only to lose to the Pats. Giants beat the Pats again in the SB.

I'm in the next season now and I'm only running Oakland. McFadden won the Rookie of the year with 1500 + yards.

Ya its just Madden, in Madden I have the best run D you would ever see using the regular Raider roster in Madden so its just a game

Ok. Not 200 lol. But I can score just as easily with oakland as any other team. I can dominate with any wr's. QB makes a bigger difference imo. And Russell works perfectly for me. 10 int's? Yes, that's possible, especially against the cpu. Ima BEAST
