I am sure y'all have heard the news and the impact Katrina had done to the upper Gulf Coast. I am sure you have heard over 25k of storm refugees are being sent here to Houston to live in the Astrodome. Thousands of others are already here staying in motels, family homes, firestations (no kidding, we have a family of 60 in a firestation near my house and one fellow Texans fan has 11 in his home now). Many with nothing left other than what they have on their backs.
Several groups of Texans fans have planned a Tailgate Benefit for the victims. What we are doing is setting up like a real tailgate and then selling plates of food for $5 each, then sending all the money (we personally donated everything, all funds generated go to the charity) to most likely the Red Cross, as donated by the Texans tailgaters. FILO (my group), Blue Crew and a fun bunch from Yellow lot have signed on, more may join in.
This is Saturday, September 4th. 905 Live Oak in Houston.
I know few of you live here, but those that do, please come out and get some great BBQ (we are doing smoked brisket and still planning the rest)and help a great cause. We also will take donations! Just PM me and I will tell you where to send it to. If you prefer to donate locally, do it to the Red Cross and designate it to the Hurricane Katrina fund.
Raider fans are awesome, and if you see fit to help us out...we appreciate it! More information can be found at houstontexans.com or at texanstalk.com.
