Oops - missed a couple of your questions:
Car Rental? Yes. We have a great light rail if you're going from a select few places to a select few places, but you really want a car. Particularly if you want to get up to the mountains or off the well beaten path. Things to do... well, get up to the mountains. It's an hour and a half or so to some of the best mountain resorts in the world. Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Vail, Keystone, Estes Park, a bit farther to Aspen,... if this is a rare trip out to Denver, you have to check out the mountains. Get on the 70 West and drive. It's spectacular. Down town (around the hotels I mention above), there are a huge number of restaurants, microbreweries/bars, etc. Market Street and Larimer Square (right by the Westin and Hotel Teatro) is a pretty hot spot, or walk/cab down Market or Blake Street to the area around Coors Field (the baseball park) if you want good nightlife. Some of my favorite restaurants include Rioja (on Larimer), the Samba Room (same), the Chop House (by Coors Field), Fado (same), or if you want food+pool+beer, try the Wynkoop Brewery (on Wazee, walking distance from any of the above). Really, I'd recommend getting out and walking around - you'll find stuff on every street. It's a good place to pub hop. If you want to check out the non-city stuff, just cruising around to see what it's like, I'd hit the Washington Park (Wash Park to locals) area for one. There's a beautiful huge park surrounded by established homes - a great break from the city. Lots of little restaurants in the nearby communities. Cherry Creek, both the Mall, and the surrounding area, particularly Cherry Creek North, is another great spot. Lots and lots of shops and restaurants and a little more tame nightlife. If you have the time, you can take a couple hour (each way) trip to Colorado Springs (25 South all the way). You'll see the Denver Tech Center (and the Park Meadows Mall - shopping), Castlerock (outlet mall shopping if that's your thing), Larkspur (beautiful, small community), etc. areas, and you can take a drive up Pike's Peak if you're interested and it's not snowing too much. Or take the train up. Oh, yeah,... closer to downtown is Red Rocks Ampitheater at the 70 and C-470 as you start to climb into the mountains. Even if not going to a concert, it's a beautiful spot and open to the public. Great picture point, and lots of hiking/biking areas (bring your oxygen - this is the Rockies). As far as tickets, they're $lots. I don't go to many games, so I can't tell you specifically, but you can probably find it on line. I'd book tickets early - it's a packed house every game, and for the Raiders, well... good luck. Hope this helps!

If price isn't a problem and you want to be CLOSE to the stadium, there's the Red Lion Inn in downtown Denver and it's walking distance from Mile High Stadium! Walk through one gravel parking lot and you're there! It's about $111 a night, but if it's convienience you want, then Red Lion can't be beat!
Also, be sure to have plenty of spending money to get you from the Airport to modern civilization. It's EASILY at least $25 bucks from the airport to the first diner by way of taxi cab. The airport is literally out in the middle of nowhere! However, a lot of major hotels offer a free airport shuttle so be sure to check that out. It can save you quite a bit of money. BTW, I hope you don't get air sick easily. If you're flying out from the west into the Rocky Mountains...whooo! Keep that paper bag handy!

Nah, they're harmless out at Pile high. Been there about 4 times and never had any problems. Also if staying in the downtown area and you don't want to rent a car outside of the airport they have shuttle vans where it ends up pretty cheap cuz it normally taxis about eight customers.

They are harmless here. Stay at the Red Lion. Its in the parking lot of Mile High. That is where most of the RF.Netters stay when they go. Large bar on the top floor. Its about a $100 or more for a lower bowl seat. Nice stadium, fans are loud, obnoxious, but harmless. Just mind your manners and only give shat when shat is given to you, and you're fine.

Red Lion is definitely close and relatively inexpensive compared to the LODO rates (~$170+).
I guess it depends on budget, how many nights you're staying, and what you want to do while not at the game. I personally am a fan of the downtown hotels due to their proximity to the nightlife... if you want to stumble home from celebrating in LODO after our victory, this might be a good option. But I'd check out rates vs your budget and all that.

Name a bar that isn't quite crowded in Denver. ![]() I guess it's worth noting that at the end of October, you have an equal chance of having a beautiful, sunny day as having snow on the ground. Pack accordingly.

well, let me know. I have 4 tix to the game. John will take one and I offered the other two to Kita and JP. If they cannot make it up for the game, I can sell those to you. Keep me posted and if I can, I will hook a brother up. But, Kita has right of first refusal on them right now.
