According To ESPN INSIDER(which to this day i have no idea why i paid for)...
The Broncos have fined Lelie $70,000 for missing five days of training camp, the Rocky Mountain News reports. Denver is hoping to deal the disgruntled wide receiver, but no team has met the team's asking price -- a first- or second-round pick or a front-line starter "of equal value." Head coach Mike Shanahan believes the Broncos' leverage might increase as injuries occur around the league. There is increasing financial pressure on Lelie, who is being fined $14,000 a day until he reports. If he stays out until the regular season, that total would top $600,000, close to his base salary for the 2006 season.

ok the fines he is paying goes back to the team yes, however it doesnt clear cap space. The only way it will clear cap space is if he returns his signing bonus, which is what we told porter to do. NFL Economics 101 there...

Swoosh is right. It doesn't clear cap space for us.
Still, it's not a huge deal. Lelie is entering the final year of his contract now. It's clear that he won't be around past next year, so it is nice to have an opportunity to get a look at some of our other young talent like Darius Watts and Brandon Marshall. Honestly, I'm confident enough that our young recievers can beat nickle backs around the league that I don't think it matters if Lelie comes back. I'd rather start getting our young talent ready to take over as a starting reciever after Rod Smith retires. I mean, with Javon Walker, we've already got our future number one reciever after Rod retires. We will just have to see if some of our very compelling young talent is able to step up as our second wide reciever. If Lelie stayed, he'd be able to jump back into that role, but it's clear that he doesn't plan to stay, so getting a look at our young talent is a good thing. I hope that we can get Lelie traded away, but otherwise he's only hurting himself. He's not doing any real damage to our team and most of us Broncos fans only pay a small amount of attention to him. "Is he back yet?? Yes or No?? No, huh, yawn, would that waitress hurry up with my morning orange juice."
