Rivers in his limited action in the nfl looked scared under center. But to answer the original question.. I see qb as not a big priority in the chargers offence because of two reasons: LT and Antonio Gates. While Gates has laps at times and drops some balls he is a monster TE. LT is probably the best back in the game overall at the moment. Brees had one and a half decent seasons as the charger Qb after being abused for a while and looking.. scared too. Once he settled down and got weapons he did a good job of not turning the ball over. And that is what Rivers must do. Make good decisions and get the ball into his playmakers hands. The only problem is that the Charges dont have a legitimate WR after McCardell who is only getting older and isnt a true deep threat. I dont think Rivers will be able to avoid mistakes, and Schottinhimer is an idiot of a coach (I mean why play to lose and run the ball all the time when u are loseing? Why play Brees in a meaningless game for him to get injured?) And with him fighting with GM Smith.. well I can see Marty turning to Aj Feely or whoever else if Rivers doesnt prove something quick.

Titwillow. I dont have time to watch North Carolina State games from 3 yrs ago. Nor do I give a **** about college football. Furthermore: there was this glorious QB that the Chargers picked up a few yrs back, a #1 pick that was an absolute bust. Remember him ? Of course you dont, because you are a Phillip Rivers Fan, not a charger fan.

Thanks for the red mark. Asshole.

Letting your Pro Bowl QB leave via free agency. Foolish

Starting your unproven 3rd year QB and expecting to make the playoffs for only the second time in 11 years. Amusing.

Having a Dolt fan call out another Dolt fan on a Raider board. Priceless.

Phyllis Diller under center for the Dolts, Brokeback Jake for the Donks. The excitement that is the AFC West.

I never watched him in college, I know absolutely nothing about him.
Don't you just hate the unknown part. Two years as Drew's backup holding a clipboard has left us with a big ?, as to how he will do as the starting QB. Good news so far is he has shown no signs of having the same mental breakdown that Leaf did. So PR will not be a number #1 bust in that sense at least. As for skills and talent, we only his college career to look at. Mini-camp has been encouraging as the rest of the team has accepted, and backs Rivers as the #1 QB, no more Drew Brees hangover to deal with. Would the Raiders fans feel the same way if Walter became their #1 QB for some reason, not sure, they have their own unknown situation to deal with in Brooks, Wolter, Smith and whoever else. I do not see PR doing as bad as some people think he will, and even think the Chargers will win more than five games.

Hopefully for Dolt fans - the beating and subsequent loss in his his first NFL start won't damage the young Mr. Rivers mentally and send the team into the all familiar spiral back to the AFC West basement.

As for Raider fans this is what we expect, yet another bonehead move by the SD front office.

The Chargers may win more than 5 games - but they will start 0-1.

LOL... If by pure luck Oakland were to win the game on 09-11, I doubt very much it will affect Rivers in any bad way, other than normal disappointment. No more spiral back to the AFC west cellar for the BoltZ. Raiders are taking care of that job for the time being, and doing real good job at it. bonehead move has not been proven, so lets wait and see. You did get the Mr Rivers part right.

I have a friend in North Carolina who insists Rivers was the best QB drafted in 2004.

That said, it really doesn't matter to me because we need to take care of our own team. Who cares what the Dolts do? We need to address our own situation. We are in a situation now where we don't have a single QB on the roster who has any business starting in the NFL. And if we don't fill that hole soon, we won't be able to beat any AFC West teams, even if they are QB'd by AJ Feely.
WTF?? You don't think A Brooks or A Walter have any business starting in the NFL? I want some of what your smoking bro.. If everyone thought like you, Rothlessberger and or Brady would still be bench warmers. Get real dude, Walter is awesome and has just as good a chance, if not better of a chance, than Rivers at kicking ass and being a top 5 passer every year. Brooks is good too if he stays within the offense and doesn't try to make **** happen when there isn't anything there. I'm very happy with our current QB situation. We're looking more stable and deep there than the Chargers, that's for sure...

You talk of luck? You Dolt fans never sease to amaze me. If Oakland wins the 9/11 game it will be because of a much improved, disciplined team put together by Art Shell. The D is better, the O will be better and you can just go back to your AFC West cellar where you belong. I mean, we rented it from y'all for a few seasons, but we don't like the view. The lease is up and there aren't any other takers, so you will just have to move back in and keep up on those Sunday payments....
