HELL NO...i think that was the dumbest move in history to waste the number 2 pick on gallery when we couldve traded up for eli or picked big ben or any other prime position. we picked gallery and look at us now...right back where we started 4-11 once again

O-line is the most important position in football

If you look at the other line men you mention, most did not start dominating until , they had 4 good years under there belt. Give the kid a chance he will be fine.

Please don't forget that Roethlisberger has played the last two years behind a veteran O-line. I would be willing to bet his stats would not be nearly as glorious behind our O-line, no matter how much of a "franchise" quarterback he is.

Big Ben is blessed to be around a solid team... When the Steelers rush for under 100 yards in a game, Ben has one of the worst winning PCT's in the game!

god forbid a draft pick doesn't get elected to the hall of fame after 2 games.

With the benefit of hindsight, you're right, but it's worth noting that without a decent o-line, even the best QB gets turned into ****.

Larry Fitzgerald
Sean Taylor
Roy Williams
DeAngelo Hall
Ben Roethlisberger
Jonathan Vilma
Steven Jackson
Nathan Vasher (4 times we passed him up)
Pace and Ogden took 2-3 years to DEVELOP!!! If all you see is FS and penalties on Gallery then your not watching his play, he is a solid blocker in the run and pass game. He will get better in time. OL usually take 5 years before they are on the field and they develop in the practice squad and a rotating back ups. Gallery is good enough to go in the game as a rook and he rarely gets rotated out. Sims does well in training camp and gets worse as the year goes on - just the opposite for Gallery. Most of his penalites were early in the year or against outstanding DEs/LBs. He will get better. Also, Gallery was put as RT because of the higher competition he would face there - he was more mobile than Sims to face the speedier DEs/LBs.

Sims salary is almost prohibitive from him being here next year. Certainly, Gallery will be shifted back to LT next year.

Compare the numerous positives with the few negatives

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/foo...ers/43649.html
This sums it up (emphasis added):
Quote:
One of the more versatile offensive tackles to enter the draft in a long while, Gallery is a terrific prospect that will offer immediate returns as well as long-term potential. Should quickly come in and start as a left tackle for a franchise, yet could also grow into a dominant strong-side blocker. Will only get better as he physically matures and improves his skills as a run blocker.
Last thing I want to see is Gallery in a KC uniform running (as Roaf's replacement) with the #1 offense with Madden going I can't believe that the Raiders gave up on thier young and developing LT...

Gallery is our best o-lineman. Not saying much, but worth stating.

So.. a topic like this brings you out of the woodwork????

Well My opinion stays.. signing Moss is a worst mistake than taking Gallery in round 2...
but I think they were both good moves, so

Same reason we took a Kicker in round one... it was what we needed... We had Gannon and Collins was backing him up... No need for a QB then... we could had gotten Pendington instead of Jano, but we needed a kicker... just like we needed protection for Gannon at that time!

"IF" my aunt had marbles, i would prolly use the word uncle instead!!!

"IF" I ate a sandwich, I would not be hungry right now!!!

"IF" I flip the calendar ahead to Feburary..... it will still be Dec.
