I read on some other threads that the players have given up on Norv Turner; they consider him to be gone in a few weeks.

But the Raiders, from Al Davis down, must be loathe to be swept by the division and have the Donkos clinch the AFC West title against them, all in the same game. Therefore, I have to believe the Raiders will bring some game with them to Denver on Xmas Eve. One can only hope.

Even though Oakland (4-10) might not even match last season's 5-11 record, the players see improvement and hope the coaching staff will stay to see it through.

"We don't want to switch to a new staff. We're so close to where we want to be," linebacker Danny Clark said.

Safety Stuart Schweigert agreed. "I know defensively, we're behind the coaches 100 percent," Schweigert said.

I know. I know. And I'm glad I was wrong. I was going with what Nancy Gay reported early on Monday. But apparently there has been some rallying behind old Norval. Fantastic. I hope the Raiders go to Denver determined to play hard in support of their coach.
