Anybody up for talking smack about next week's game?

Disappointing loss today. I was looking forward to a week of waggish smack exchanges leading up to Sunday's game. But now I fear the Raiders will come into San Diego emotionally flat. Today's loss has probably sucked the life out of the team, and Raiders' fans, now that Oakland is all but mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.

The truth is, I don't know what to talk smack about that would actually be interesting at this point.

I will say, however, that you guys got got damn lucky to come away with a win today. Jeez, what a blown opportunity by the Skins!

With what the Dolphins did to us today... it is going to be embarassing next week, If the Raiders play like they did today!

The Bolts played ugly until about three-quarters through the 4th quarter. Then LT broke off a 33-yard TD run to tie it. The defense forced a 3 & out on the ensuing 'Skins possession. Then Brees had a batted ball picked at the Bolts' 30. But the defense pushed the Redskins backwards and their kicker came up short on a 53-yarder. The Bolts won it in two plays in overtime: A long pass to Gates followed by another romp by LT, this one 44 yards for the score. The end of the game was a work of art.

We needed an ugly win. Now it shows that this team has what it takes to overcome a seemingly dire situation and grit it out for a W.

I don't expect Marty to be so compassionate. A 4-7 record probably just means he smells blood.

Marty hates Al Davis and he will not spare the Raiders anything next week. "Raider week," as he calls it, is sacred to him. He will pile it on. Should be an entertaining game for Chargers fans.

Ummmm... a holding penalty pushed the Skins backwards, not your defense... otherwise you would have "probably" lost by a field goal.

True, a holding penalty did push them back 10 yards. But the defense caused that penalty. The penalty was by Redskins center Casey Rabach on Bolts nose tackle Jamal Williams. And it was a direct result of Williams dominating Rabach all day, and shutting down the 'Skins run game all day. The defense stopped Portis twice for no gain and broke up a Brunell pass. Those penalties happen when you have a defensive lineman as dominating as Jamal. If you could find this stat, I would bet money that Jamal Williams leads the league, or is in the top two or three, of defensive lineman who are victims of holding penalties by offensive lineman. He causes the zebras to toss the yellow on opposing offensive linemen game after game. So, I do credit the Bolts' defense for pushing the 'Skins backwards on that series.

What's there to talk smack about? Hell, it's not even worth talking legitimate matchups, coaching histories, etc.

Here's my best shot: The Raiders may or may not show up and play well next Sunday in San Diego.

Sorry.
