Hey man, for all I know, you may be right, but it's the NFL. Any team can win on any day. I for one respect my opponent. Never underestimate 'em. You won't find me guaranteeing anything. Maybe we just see it differently.

Stay healthy and may the best team win. Cheers.

Allow me to try and respond.

Its not going to be easy to replace such highly thought of co-ordinators - but our new D coach (Mangini) is well respected within the league - and BB is no stranger to getting into the minds of Offensive co-ordinators.

Do I think Chad Scott can hold Moss? Well I dont suppose that Chad Scott will be our no.1 CB if that is what you are suggesting - we have plenty of depth at the this position with Samuel, Gay, Starks and Poole.
IN a 1-on-1 fanstasy land scenario then Moss would be difficult to cover for sure, regardless of who is covering him - but the game wont be played in fantasy land - and there is alot more to football than comparing players on paper.

Bruschi was indeed a sad loss, and a hard guy to replace...but you know what?
We had plenty of doubters tell us we couldn't get it done without Law and with a UDFA and a WR playing time at CB....but we got it done didn't we?

How will we beat you, you ask? I would imagine by having a team that is simply superior to yours in almost every facet.
From our QB to our RB to our D-line we have depth and quality that is unrivalled in this league.

If you wanted an actual scenario of how we might beat you, I would suggest by running the ball on your lowly ranked D all day and not giving you the ball.
Can you not see the irony of a raider fan telling a Pats fan that his D is the weak link?.....I think you been smoking some of the good stuff.

Our 'O' will indeed assume scary proportions this season, the aforementioned best QB in the league and his team mates ran up 40-odd points in a CHAMPIONSHIP game against the leagues No.1 RANKED SCORING DEFENCE....add to this last years 1st round pick Ben Watson and you have a formidable 2-TE set up and endless scenarios for putting points on the board.

I beg to differ with your assessment of our D 'not being top-10' - what ranking system are you using for reference....is it called De-Cleaters fantasy land rankings?
The Patriots played all of last year with their D being close to ranked no.1 in points conceded (isn't this after all the best indicator of a Defence?....points win games dont they?)
I would still be interested in the other 10 teams you think that have a better Defence than ours......??

I am enjoying the run, them SB's are sweet (esp when you win - getting beat bad in the SB sucks dont it?) and I dont really think you believe that the Patriots are going to lose to Oakland, and if you do - then I am sure reality will come crashing into your world come game day.

I could have posted a reply in a similar vein to yours highlighting all the weaknesses in your D and your franchise as a whole, but I didnt want to be still typing when the Week1 games started........

Regards

Everything eventually runs its course, and now it's time for the Gaytriots to be knocked off the top of their mountain. They've enjoyed the view for almost half a decade now, and who better than the Silver & Black, to show the rest of the NFL and National audience how it's done. Sorry Patsie fans, everything good comes to an end on September 8th, 2005. Cherish the 3 Lombardi trophies you have, because you won't be seeing anymore in the near future. Consider September 8th, 2005 the beginning of your decline. Raiders-24 Gaytriots-14

Well for one they can get something to eat at TC now that Parcells doesn't hog-trough all the food in the team refridgerator.

You know I absolutely LIVE for the in-depth analysis that raider fans provide!

Its great the way you mapped out how you gonna beat us - sorry you already told us you had the best Offence in the league didn't you?.....you gained the most yards?....you scored the most TD's?......no no, you say, THIS YEAR we will be much improved ...take our word for it!

Uh Ok!

So what about your D?

Well, that is is improved also, you cry.
Just watch our pass rush sack Tom Brady's ass!

What...you mean the non-existent pass rush from last year that formed part of one of the leagues worst D-units?

Yeah, but its MUCH IMPROVED...watch us go....we got Randy Moss and he is gonna play CB aswell......

So looks like you Raiders got the SB all sewn up by pre-season eh?

Anything else we should watch out for?

Yeah....we got the BEST RB in the league...LaMont Jordan!

Hold on.....has he ever been a starter?

Uh no......but TRUST US.....he is just the best!!

I have read hilarious threads/posts in the misc. forum where the best justification for the Pats losing is that -

1. They have had their chance - now its the Raiders turn.

2. Pats are on a downward spiral last coupla years - despite winning both the last 2 SB's!!

You guys are brilliantly delusional - I only wish the majority had the I.Q. to even comprehend this post.....

.....for those who don't...here's summat for ya... >>

Cheers

Listen homie, I could go on for an hour as to why we'll beat you, but I don't really feel like sitting behind my keyboard for that long, so I'll give you a few examples. We all know about the Raider offensive weapons (Moss/Porter/Curry/Gabriel/Anderson/Teyo/Lamont, etc, etc.). They will score on you. That's a given. No real explanation needed. Now our D, here's why they will keep your asses in check. Forget last year's performance. This is not the same D. Our 2 CB'S (Woodson and Nnamdi) are both physical corners, who will smash your WR's in the mouth at the LOS, and come up and make some hits. This means that your WR's will not be making many catches in this game. Our young FS (Stuart Schweigert) has all the makings of a ballhawking machine. This is his 2nd season, and Brady is not going to fool him with his double-clutches. We have 2 SS (Anderson and Gibson) who are both very physical, and will put a hurting on Dillon. The D line you ask? Here's where the depth comes into play. When we play the 4-3, Sapp will be back at DT, where he belongs. Our young buck Tommy Kelly will see more playing time because of his performance last season. Hawthorne (our 6th round pick out of Wisconsin) is fired up to show that he was worthy of being drafted much higher. Mt. Washington was one of the few players who had a solid year last season. He did his job by occupying blockers, making a few tackles, and getting the rare sack. He should be solid once again. Bobby Hamilton is stout against the run as always. We signed Burgess, as to give us more of a pass rush. We have Jasper, Irons, Sands, Smith, etc. for depth. With Rob Ryan having depth to give some of his players a breather throughout the game, Brady will see players with fresh legs after his ass all night long. Now our LB's. If I'm honest, probably the weakest link on our D. Certainly not an awful unit, but not a superb one either. Danny Clark is a tackling machine, and our best LB. If healthy, he will be a Pro Bowl player this year. Led the team in tackles last year. Morrison (the kid we drafted out of San Diego State) looks to be a very solid player, much in the mold of Clark. Very good instincts and nose for the ball. Sam Williams is very quick, and if he is finally healthy, can be a very good OLB. He has flashes of this over the past few seasons, especially last year. Tim Johnson is more of a ST's player, but played very well when given the chance last year. He's been getting some downs in training camp this year, and could see a substancial increase in playing time this year. This kid is a hustler and a good tackler. Foreman is also much like Clark. A very good tackler who played for the Texans last year. There's also Tyler Brayton, who is a converted DE. While I don't think much of him at the OLB position, he can certainly still provide plenty of pressure as a rusher. I like our LB corps as a solid unit, just not a spectacular one. We don't have to be the # 1 D in the league to beat you. We all know that we're going to score enough points to beat you, so the D just needs to play solid ball. This D is going to surprise some people this year. It starts September 8th, 2005. I'm not talking Top 5 here, more like Top 15. And with our O being what it is, this will be more than enough to beat you. How does 0-1 sound?
