A Little Ditty (Limerick) for New England Fans

Walt Coleman said to his Daddy, Taglibue
"You know, I'm a puppet for you.
I'll make whatever call you say,
It won't work no other way.
Call me up and tell me what I gotta do."

It will go down in history as the call that sucked,
When the Raiders from the playoffs were bucked.
They were ready to rumble,
When they recovered Brady's fumble,
But Coleman said "Upon further review, he tucked."

Now Raiders and their fans still grumble,
But Coleman spoke clearly and did not to mumble.
Here is the pretense,
Coleman cited "Irreputable Evidence".
Although the replay clearly shows a fumble.

It is a matter of great concern,
When credibility does a "crash and burn".
In the Pat's trophy case,
There is a terrible disgrace.
A Lombardi shaped like a Colemann lantern.

Cool, so we swap '76 and '01? Hehe.
*Cough*.. Ben Dreith *Cough*

Actually, it doesn't bother me at all. My only question to you, and I am serious and not looking to instigate, is are you really still obsessed with this? This was '01? If I were you, I'd be looking to the future with your good squad this season. Whining is for Colts fans.

Not whining, or at least I hope not. Hopefully, just a little humor.

Here is a quote from Ken Stabler, a man who saw the game and call in question from a lot closer than either of us.

(The situation: Third and 18 and around 1 minute left on the clock, Pats 21 - 17 lead.)

"I called a sideline pass to Carl Garrett but their backs were all over him. Just as I threw the ball, Ray Hamilton hit me across the face with his arm. He was going for the ball but he hit me after I threw it. They called it roughing the passer and we got a first down at the 13-yard line. It was a big break for us, but he did hit me.

The Pats said he tipped the ball, which would have made it no penality. It's a judgement call by the official. He didn't think Hamilton tipped the ball. Besides, there should have been a penalty called on the Patriots for interfering with Garrett. They were all over him.

I threw to Casper for five yards and then we got four more on a run by Clarence Davis. Pete Banaszak gained a yard on third down. It was close for the first down but one of their players argued with the officials and they called an unsportmanlike-conduct penality that put the ball on the one yard line wth 30 seconds to play."

With 14 seconds left, Stabler called a roll out to the left and either run or throw the ball to Dave Casper. Stabler ran it in, final score 24-21.

Yeah, I know you weren't whining, just givin' a little back.

In all seriousness, the Colts fans sometimes amaze me. They just can't get over it. They have the best offense in the NFL, yet they still whine.

I'm well aware of the play in hand as well. That flag was pure b.s., but hey, that's football. Sometimes you get the calls, sometimes you don't. Our first game should be awesome. What a way to open the season. Should be good to see Rob Ryan again as well.

Is the game on ABC or ESPN?

But of course, I thought it was the perfect call.
