... I guess its a cool thing to use the name of a quarterback who has never been into a game... You should just stick with Ryan Leaf as your name bacause even as horrible as he was, he has thrown a touchdown in the NFL. How warm is the bench Rivers? The only reason Brees did so good last year is because Gates came out of the wood works... believe me, he wont be so great this year now that he is not such a suprise.

Rivers has played in a game (2 if you wanna count running the clock down at the end of a blowout win), and he has thrown a touchdown pass.

I can honestly say that i think rivers will be a damn good QB, if ever given the chance to start. I was more wqorried that the chargers got rivers in the trade then i was about brees. I think the chargers might be making a mistake with letting brees start, becuz IMO rivers is an incredible QB. Lets how these dolts handle this QB situation.

I personally think that Brees is a better QB because my mind cannot be changed with what ifs... I have seen nothing of Rivers that makes me think he will be great let alone good. I can be wrong but I honestly think that his awkward passing technique will trouble him and the Chargers would be smart to trade him now to insure they can get something back. JMO.

I think Rivers upside is through the roof (even better than Big Ben and Eli.)
I think the Chargers (Marty) wanted to get Rivers in the starting spot at some time last season, but you cannot argue with what Brees (the mole) accomplished, so Rivers has to sit and wait.

I believe that Brees will be traded at the end of this season and Rivers will take over.

I thought he only signed a one year deal Philip? You will start soon enough dont be to mad at Brees he did not do this to you.

I'm not mad at Brees. I buy into AJ Smith's philosophy: Bring in the best players you can, line them up 3 deep and let them compete.

You're right, Brees did sign a one year deal, but the Chargers have the option of franchising him next season and trading his rights. I'm sure AJ Smith (Chargers GM) would've traded Brees this offseason for 2 first rounders. (He quickly saw that no one in their right mind would give the Chargers that price for a 'potential' one hit wonder.)

One of them is going to go next offseason. I'll bet on that. Because of the potential salary cap hit the Chargers will take on trading Rivers, I think it'll be Brees.
