I'm only bothering to reply to a thread about the Chargers because it's Friday, I'm at work, and I don't feel like doing anything.
Charger fans can't even fall back on anything in the entirety of their history to really brag about. I lump them in with Seattle and the Cardinals as teams who have rarely, if ever given their fans something to be excited about. I mean, every fan usually has something. Even though the Browns have never been to a Superbowl they do have an illustrious history and have had some of the games greatest players. Carolina, in it's short history has done some very good things and played in what I objectively consider to be the greatest Superbowl ever played. But San Diego? They had a decent run with Fouts and company in the early 80's but never produced even a division title during those years. In their one Superbowl appearence they were Steve Young's sacrificial lamb. I will give them credit however for playing in and winning one of the greatest post season games ever-the win against Miami in Miami in '82 I believe it was. But other than that there just isn't a whole bunch there to latch onto. They have been the dictionary picture of the term "mediocrity". While the Raiders have had a couple of really ****ty seasons, they still inspire hatred among opposing fans. Opposing fans still take delight in hating not only the team but we Raider fans as well. And it's not because the Raiders have historically been a bad team. At some point nearly every team has suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Raiders and those organizations and their fans don't forget it. That one single fact makes all of San Diego's history pale in comparison. |

Hey Lamma, you're wrong in saying that the Chargers didn't win a division title in the '80's. We won 2. '80 & '81. Technically we won 3 in a row. '79-'81.

So I'm gonna go with 6-10 in 05' I just wonder...Does Al Davis cut loose the under-performing turds he's signed after this upcoming season....Or let em at it another year....? You gotta think that collection of egos is going to have some sort of chain-reaction, finger-pointing breakdown at some point.... I'm thinking Al keeps the turds...Fires Norv....Al loves his boys.....
