Reality- Then & Now

I thought I'd see what was on our opponents mind... I do this frequently for upcoming games. What strikes me as a common theme throughout most of the posts is that Raider fans in general would much rather reflect on past glories (which, I will grant them... is more successful than past Charger history) rather than discuss/address the present.

The bottom line is this. The Chargers have a better team than the Raiders do this year. Our QB is performing better than yours. Our O-line is holding up MUCH better than expected and is at least as good as yours. Our running backs are better than yours. Our receivers are performing better than yours. Our TE's are better than yours. Our D-line is better than yours. Our linebackers are better than yours. Our secondary might be the one place where you have us beat... but even then, its close. Kicking game?... nope, we got ya beat there too. Special team?... doubtful, but I'm willing to allow it as a possibility.

So honestly... just how is it that you guys/gals think you will win? Because you have more heart? Puhleeeeze... I'm not buying that for a minute- and I don't think you do either.

So seriously... I'm curious as to how/why you feel that you will win? Don't get me wrong, I actually do have a lot of respect for some Raider fans (great sense of humor) and some Raider players (tremendous heart and dedication as well as skill). And I pose the question in both a light-hearted manner... but also seriously. I'm curious as to how you feel you will beat us. Which aspect of the game do you feel is stronger than ours? Maybe coaching?

Because history is all well and good. But when they step onto the field and play... it means exactly squat.

As of this moment i give the Chargers are playing better ball, Does not mean the team is better. Chargers have in the past started strong and faded away. So they have to convince us but as a Raider fan we need to be convinced. What you guys like to do is still talk crap even when we just a few seasons ago were doing good. I did not see you or any other Chargers fan coming over here to say, Hey your team is doing good. But you expect us to say that to you because your team seems to put some wins together.We cannot talk about this because your views are with your team, Just as mine are with mine.But like i said the season is not over it it may come to us either winning or losing a game to get a team( maybe yours) into the playoffs. Then i guess you will be a fan of the Raiders that day. But to answer your question about why, Well i just wouldn't be a fan if i did not think my team would win.

I can't speak for anyone else... but actually I have come by (on a different message board) and given props for your team's success. OK... a couple times I had to do it as a result of a bet- but the other times I didn't!

But you are absolutely correct that these are just a series of wins we have strung together so far. Only time will tell if we can keep playing at this level or not. And honestly... win or lose... I hope noone gets hurt.

As all we do, we do not want injuries. But honestly do you think you will be taking a step back when Brees leaves next year?

I worry like hell about that I'm hoping PR is watching and taking notes and actually learning throughout this process. But yeah, I'm afraid there will be a little dropoff next year... until he gets comfortable with the pace of the game.

I can wish for him to step up like Big Ben has this year... but statistically, I just can't see it. Odds are it will take a couple of years before he starts hitting his stride. I just hope we/the organization don't give up on him like we did Brees. He looked horrible last year, but then our whole team stunk from top to bottom. Drew was a decent enough QB his first year- and showed a lot of poise and intelligence. Then he had a major setback last year. But some lucky team is going to get a fine QB at our expense I believe.

Keep in mind there are quite a few differences between this year's team and the previous year's team that tanked after fast starts:

1. More experienced QB now whom the game has finally slowed down for
2. True TE weapon in Gates
3. Legitimate receiving threats in McCardell and the duo of Caldwell and Parker
4. #2 Run defense in the league
5. Solid offensive line with the addition of Oben and Goff, as well as Fonoti
6. Better defensive line with a healthy Jamal Williams and supporting cast (e.g. Foley with 6 sacks already)

Add in a healthy LT (hopefully) plus a softer 2nd-half schedule, there's no reason to think the Chargers can't make the playoffs.

I am ABSOLUTELY positive we are not only better than you in just about every phase of the game... but that we will beat you in your own house this weekend. If I am wrong?... you bet, I'm man enough to come back here and admit it. Will you be man enough to admit I was right if we beat you down again?

And we don't have to win a SB to be a much better football team than you. Since that was what I was stating... and you fell right into the old "but you haven't won any SB's" routine. How does that answer what I said initially?... which was that we (the Chargers) for this year at least, are a much better football team across the board than you (the Raiders). That simple.

Actually, my initial post was asking how you (as Raider fans) feel that you guys will win on Sunday? Talent-wise there is simply very little question that in virtually every position, the Chargers have superior talent/skill. Yes, that is MY assertion. From what I read, your assertion is that on any given Sunday... and that is true, but unless you are just blindly having faith that a miracle will happen- where are you basing this belief on?

If you had two good ones you like us would of not got another Qb to come in. Brees has drawn aces so far this year. That is all you never know if someone else comes in he may draw crap. No doubt, I am smug because we are winning and because I am comfortable stating that we have the better team this year. I truly did not mean to come across as a jackass about it though- I actually was looking for some opinions on what/how the Raiders would respond.

But yes... this success might very well be short lived. No doubtthat is why it feels so good at the moment. It could fall apart very quickly I suppose... but honestly, right now- I don't see it happening.

But I have indeed been on this board before- giving props to you guys occasionally... I have a few friends who are Raider fans and they beat on me mercilessly Gotta give a few pokes in the rib back ;)

i'm still waiting to read why a faider fan thinks their team can win this week? Just how do you expect to do it. Please don't say the fact we haven't won a super bowl is going to be a factor. I want to know why. Do you expect warren sapp to double his sack total on the season and get 1 sack lol. You expect to keep us under 30 points even though you have kept hardly anybody under this total. Ok I'm going to stop here so you guys can answer the question without reading too much text.
