See I told you AD was a genious he knew they weren't good enough to keep these two around when given the opportunity he let them walk out the door. Most of us were shocked, surprised, and some were hurt at there departures. Now we can live on knowing that we didn't lose the SB to Gruden we lost it to Tony Dungy and Rich Mckay.

Definelty, that SB was between Dungy's and McKay's Bucs and Gruden's Oakland Raiders.

Just be glad that self serving ass is now their coach instead of ours!! I'll never forgive him for that game plan against the Ravens in the Afc Championship game that was run on 3rd and 5, not once but about 25 times!!! And then leaving Gannon in when it was obvious he was hurt, hell even Bobby Hoying drove the team for a TD by passing the ball, but the refs took it away, BUT AT LEAST He moved the ball, and then the next season when we lost homefield advantage because Gruden was too bust selling Chucky dolls and that image!!! Yep Al you done good on that deal getting TB to take that chump!!!

That's funny how short a honeymoon is. Didn't that (egotistical jerk) just win a Super Bowl for the Yucks?

Serves him right.

A local writer twists Gruden's nipple a bit and you guys are allready celebrating Tampa's funeral? Let's not forget a few things.....

Tampa has beefed up their offensive line, which is perfect for Gruden's style of offense. The line Gruden inherited was a lot smaller of a line designed for sweep-style running plays and rollout passing. Gruden runs a pocket passing system, and runs between the tackles 90% of the time.

They lost talent on their defense, but look at their starting d line: Ellis Wymms, Booger McFarland, Greg Spires, and Simeon Rice. It's not the purple people eaters, but not bad by today's NFL standards. They still have Derrick Brooks, Shelton Quarles and Ronde Barber, and the D is still led by Monte Kiffin, who's as good as anyone in the league. If those names are making you cringe, they should. They are the same guys that put our franchise into a coma that it's still just barely coming out of this very day.

I watched this team play a few times last year. And it was obvious that Gruden just could not run his offense with that low carb offensive line. He just wasn't beating up the clock the way he likes to, and the qb just wasn't getting the time to select his 2nd and 3rd recievers, which is vital in Gruden's passing game. That won't be the case this year. Expect Johson to sit in the pocket the way Gannon did with the line he had in Oakland that Gruden kept into playing shape. Gruden had our big boys moving fast. Look at what happened to them after Gruden left? They went from fat, and effective, to just plain fat. Just another example of how important Gruden's 'annyoning, hyper intensed' style of coaching is.

I still don't feel the Raiders have successfully replaced Jon Gruden in the head coaching slot, allthough I do have HIGH hopes in our defenisve coordinator, Rob Ryan. I understand why everyone hates Gruden, but to deny his coaching ability with his overall career record, reg and post season, just flies in the face of logic. Sorry, nation.

Nonetheless, Go Raiders. Maybe Norv Turner has split personalites and wil turn into f**king John Madden out there. I'm pulling for him.

Chump? This is the guy that brought us back to the top of the AFC. I wish he were still here. I am a Raider fan but to criticize a guy just because he left us is stupid. He will regret it, Tampa doesn't have the fans we have. They don't feel the energy when Gruden gives one of those stares to an official. Don't forget that Callhans winning season wasn't because of him, that was Grudens hard work. Callahan just sat back in cruise control. We will move on and continue to win.

Exactly. A lot of Raider fans in here sort of take the 'pro wrestling' approach to the Gruden/Davis situation. I take the practical approach. I fault both of them. Gruden wanted to coach in a place where he could have complete control. But at the same time, Davis offered him horse****. Had Davis agreed to the 15 million over 5 years that Gruden proposed, but had a clause that would give Davis and Gruden split control over the roster, it may have been something that could have been ironed out. Money always talks. But instead Al Davis offered him something like 7 million over 3 years, which is bull****.

I look at it as a marriage that fell apart, and we, the Raider fans, were the kids in the marriage. The adults didn't think about the kids. They just thought of themselves and were more concerned with what they would get out of it.

Had Al Davis agreed to the financial terms of Gru's proposal but still in insisted that he and Gru split control of the roster, then I would be the first person in here calling Gruden a traitor. Anyone that expected Gruden to coach a football team in this league for the money that Al offered has their head up their ass. NO ONE IS THAT LOYAL TO THE RAIDERS. Belive me, if Freddy Beleitnikoff coached us to 2 back to back 10-win seasons and our first playoff appearance in 7 years and Davis offered him that contract? Freddy would have jumped to Tampa as well. People have to use thier common sense here.

Davis and Gruden both allowed their greed to come before Raider fans. If you look at the fine points of thier negotiations, you can clearly see that NEITHER of them had the fans, or the team's success on the football field in mind. They were both driven by their egos.
