This thread went in a bad way, not because the original poster brought his faith into it, but because his faith became the focus. I don't see anything wrong with quoting the Bible, I see quotes on the boards from many different sources that could also be considered religious. If you aren't Christian, then maybe you don't understand that they live with Christ in every aspect of there life, including football. If you don't want to have a religious conversation I suggest not focusing on that part of the post, or ignoring it altogether.

I disagree with the OP, Jano felt confident because he had a great warmup and he was kicking inside with no wind... nothing wrong with that, the problem is that he lost focus during the game, and after each miss it probably worsened. Happens to kickers all the time(not to mention golfers), unfortunately he missed an easy one that failed to win a game.

in actuality the post had nothing to do with my faith, but had to do with where the original quote "pride comes before the fall," came from. had i said that quote without reference to its origin, not a one would have entered into discussion about spiritual relevance. But i was surprised at the response to a discussion about Godly relevance to sports, which is a topic all on its own. i think that goes without saying, we all see teams praying before and after games. Not to mention, players stance about their faith in interviews.

My opinion about pride and our team stands. no one really knows what is going on in the head of each and every players belief pattern. we all have our opinion and welcome any challage to the discussion as entertainment and the fullfillment of our need to be part of the forum. whether the statements are material fact or part opinion does not give one the right to internalize those statements and slander, put down, nor make fun of others whose opinions they have every right to express. thanks for your participation.

    I "have no clue"

Hahaha... I love how christians think it is ok to talk down to people... in the name of the Lord!

    SO freaking self righteous!!! LMAO...

WWJD? Would he say "You have no clue"?

The bible is one of the great works of fiction.. and sure it contains many life lessons.

but there is no point in acting like everything in life hinges on that.

there are billions of non-christians in this world... many many religions and spiritual practices exsist...

you are FREE to choose the one you want.. and believe what you will...

yet.. I am the one without a clue...

    interesting.
    Go Raiders.

Wow this thread wasn't what I expected hahaha. The Bible is a great book to teach people morals and values. Those who believe it's real though and preach it unnecessarily and talk down to people like they're something real special...... well they took too much LSD.

You make some valid points. I think the perception was that you were expressing your faith by quoting the bible, when in fact you weren't.

I stand by my post; It's not like someone said Jano missed the kicks because he lacked faith in God.

prove it doesnt. what does life hinge on then? are you dependant on your short existence here as your finality? point to one reference other than The Bible that would indicate you have a chance at eternity than through anything other than a Savior. how do you plan to pay for your sin? the Jews sacrificed animals before Gods ultimate Sacrifice. what is your stance based on? what seems ironic is i used to take a stance such as yours. BUT........ i was enlightened to information i had rejected previous due to my self serving ways. what is your excuse?

Life doesn't hinge on anything. There is no reason to suspect that there is an afterlife. There is no payment for sin.

Religion is a crutch for people who need a lynch pin to hold themselves together.
