Well why did Al pick him? Tyler Brayton was a first round pick. Was he the BPA? I thought that was the method in the NFL. I need explainations here from the Draft Experts on Raiderfans.net. Because I don't know sh*t. So fill me in please.

As I remember Al was looking at him as someone who would be available in the 2nd round but feared Denver might take Fabian before he could get his mitts on him, so he used his first pick.

i wanted in order(considering jake long off the board):
chris long glen dorsey sedrick ellis or darren mcfadden vernon gholston(cooled on him lately due to lack of game intensity) With dorsey on the board i was stunned for a moment when dmac's name was called out. I like many others had convinced myself that running back was not a need. Still i said before i would be happy if mcfadden was the pick and after thinking about it for a while i realize he is potentially a very exciting weapon and something we really have been missing on offense which is the big playmaker. The concept of surrounding russell early with quality talent doesn't rub me the wrong way either. It seems sound enough now the raiders just have to execute with points baby! hoping the future is a potent 1-2 punch of mcfadden and bush!

Did you not listen to kiffins interview? He feels that Payton and NO wore out Reggie Bush before actually teaching him the ropes. Kiff made it sound like he had some convos with coach Payton and he said he is not going to throw McFadden out in the NFL right away. From the way Kiffin made it sound he is going to easy Dmac in, slowly. So as for instant production, no, your not going to see that IMO. Bush/Fargas will be seeing most of the load IMO. And as for Dorsey, i was ALL for dline. That was my #1 priority on my wishlst. But not Dorsey. Kiffin said it many of times that Dorsey was not in our plans because he is a 3 technique UT, EXACTLY what we paid Kelly for. Coach kiff also said he finally wants kelly to focus in on one spot to reach his potential, and thats at UT. And we paid Kelly big time cash, the highest paid DT in the league. So imo, drafting dorsey would have been dumb. We already have our starting UT for the future in kelly, hopefully he pans out. As many insiders have noted, Long was #1 on our list. So its not like the raidres were in sane and didnt realize they needed Dline help. Its just that no one was available taht fit our needs except for gholston, and I'm sure the raiders were worried about his run stopping abilities. Trading down, or taking Dmac at #4 was the right way to go. He was not a need, and definitely not who i wish we would have drafted. But, it was the right decision

Good point. I hear ya. All Im saying is like any other first round high picks we expect this dude to come in here and produce. And since Al is happy with the D-line and O-lne in place we, as fans, deserves to see productivity and results.

Scary stuff
McFadden scares me. I think he's either gonna be real good and play a lot like he did in college, or be a complete reggie bush type bust (not nearly worth the pick).
I hope it's the former and not the latter, bur I think Dorsey would have been a much safer pick. I
