Without reading other fans posts. I hate the Raiders because of the holy roller. Because of the 1980 afc championship. Because of Napoleon Harris digging his knuckles into L.T.'s Ribs. Because of the 7-6 game in the 90's where the faiders scored late in the 4th qtr on a bomb. Because of the faiders cheating ways and acting like super bowl titles won before alot of football fans can even remember a super is STILL something to gloat about. For every Faider fan 30 and under who doesn't ever really remember the faiders winning a super bowl yet still acting like they saw it and they are proud of it lol. Get the hell out of here with that. As much as I hate the Patriots I thought the tuck rule was great to take a potential bowl out the faiders cheating hands. I hate them for being the SmelL.A. Raiders and the lost fans unsure if they should still root for the faiders even though they left their city like a fart in the wind. For all the bandwagon faider fans in SD who became Charger fans and switch back and forth. For not realizing the faider fan base is the biggest bandwagon base in the league. I remember going to hayward and berkeley and oakland in the mid and early 90's and I NEVER would've known the raiders played there til someone told me. I go back up in like 96 or 97 to visit fam and all the sudden everyone is a raiders fan? Get the hell outta here with that crap.

OK, I've been a Charger fan since 1972. I never liked the Raiders because they usually owned the Chargers back in that era. Then, I really started hating them in 1978 after the "Holy Roller" game...that just showed me that they are a bunch of cheaters (not to mention bad characters). However, over the years I'll admit I had a grudging (sp?) respect for the Raiders because they brought attitude and were winners. They were fun to watch as long as it wasn't against the Chargers.

I no longer hate the Raiders because to be hated you have to be relevant and they are no longer relevant. I currently hate the Patriots (as do many around the league) and can't wait for the Chargers to give them theirs and finally get back to a Super Bowl.

Really the chargers raiders Rivalry is the oldest from the Old AFL days. Sid Gilman, Al Davis and Don Coryell all coached at San Diego State when it was a respectable program in 60's. A rivalry was born when they all went their own ways to the raiders and chargers. Most neophite raider fans don't know their team's history and therefore don't realize their oldest rivals and why they are hated. To be a Raider is to hate the Chargers. To be a Charger is to hate the Raiders this was once a fact in the AFL it never left the Chargers fans.
