Al's obsession with cornerbacks....

Does this **** make any sense to anybody???? Look at the draft picks and money we throw at the CB position. Buchanon, Aso, Washinton, Routt, now we're about to give up our 2nd and 3rd for Hall. We paid C-wood all that money, franchised Aso, Hall is going to make insane money playing for us....

What does he think CBs do? The best CBs can keep one WR from catching the ball (most of the time). If you have two shut-down CBs, the other teams QB can still throw to a TE, fullback, or RB. Not to mention, teams can still run on us at will pretty much.

We have NO proven offensive tackles on our football team. Not one. And does anybody think we'll draft one in the 1st round? I don't. We'll wait till the 4th, or we won't even draft one. You don't get starting LTs in the 4th round. You'd have a better chance finding your starting QB that late in the draft.

This is the worst off-season I can remember so far, I can't be optimistic about this anymore. All that's left is to fire Kiffin and waste our 1st round pick.

I dunno man. I think pass rushing may be a little more important than pass coverage, but not by much. A shutdown tandem forces the run, allows us to stack 8 in the box while still having big play threats both sides of the field on pass plays..Ya can't hate on the man for this one..

first thing is Al's philosophy. in his mind we should score. if we score other teams need to throw to catch us. granite we havent scored much lately but in a few games last year when we lead, teams were able to theow thier right back in. this is what he wants to prevent. he is apparently very optomistic with his offensive signings and jruss that he belives we will score and others will need to throw. this is how his mind works.

I agree Wr's and DB's don't win football games. Games are won up front in the trenches and by your qb.

That being said, we're the raiders, we're known for having great cb's and wr's. Tim Brown, Freddy B, Cliff Branch, Lester Hays, Michael Haynes, the list goes on and on.... As long as Al is running the show, we're gonna be playing MAN TO MAN with top notch Cb's, regardless of their price tag.

According to Madden, they used to debate this quite a lot. Madden has always maintained that Oline is the most important position on the field. Davis says DB

Funny thing is, they viewed each other's #1 as the second most important position on the field.

So, take your pick, Oline or DB, but according to these two whom I consider the great football minds of our generation, these are where you focus.

So we shut them down outside, then we get to focus much more attention inside.

either way, im good
