Philip Rivers and his nonsense

I know how much Philip Rivers is hated in Oakland, but my question is, shouldn't Rivers be getting as much negative attention as someone like TO or Chad Johnson would for their excessive trash talking or celebrations? I mean I hate to bring race into this but don't you think that if it were a black player literally yelling at players on the field from the sideline and getting into verbal wars with the fans, that the media would be 10x more likely to cover it in a negative light? And the funny thing is that even most of the top trash talkers in the NFL aren't even going over the top with it like Rivers does. Also, as the QB of a team you can't be acting this way.

And I saw on Sportscenter the other night when they were talking about it they brought up the Black Hole and how he "shut you guys up", I highly doubt it and if it were the case how could one of you not just sacrifice yourself and jump over the stands to take him out?!

No doubt! The guy really reminds me of Ryan Leaf, a legend in his own mind.

Too bad he might not be in the game this weekend, otherwise, I'd like to see Rodney get his 'late hit' on him. Maybe he can catch him standing to close to the sideline or something.

I don't think he cares.

Quote:
At times, Rivers' confidence hasn't been quite so quiet. His former teammate Levar Fisher, now a starting linebacker for the Arizona Cardinals, laughs when he remembers his friend's freshman year. "After I got to the league, I was talking to [Julius] Peppers and [Ryan] Sims from Carolina. They said that they would KILL him - knock him on his butt, HARD, and they'd hear this country voice saying, 'You boys can't handle it. You ain't no good.' They said they kept hitting him hard and he would just get up and keep talking trash. They both said they gained a lot of respect for that young kid that day, because he just never gave up."
Phil just like to talk. It's all in good fun. You guys take him too seriously.

And he may talk but he also backs it up on the field.

Yup! The tide will turn and the Raiders are poised to burn San Diego to the ground. I expect to find a beat down, cry baby QB in the midst of the rubble wondering what happened. Hey Rivers....

Setting race aside, I most definitely agree that for whatever reason the mainstream media is giving him an over abundance of leeway, way over.

The guys not only a jerk but a putz on top of it.

He has zero idea of not only how to win, but win with dignity.

His antics are uncalled for, childish and even worse poor sportsmanship.

Right now you have four QB’s in the playoffs besides him, Favre, Brady and Manning. None of which at have ever at any point in there career acted like the immature jerk he has.

He should be up for POOR sportsman of the year.

LMAO.
Ryan Leaf in his own mind?

Rivers has always been like that, from high school to college.
The kid doesn't curse, doesn't belittle anyone, and just has fun out there.

For the love of God, just because he's animated doesn't make him 'classless.'

He's never been in trouble with the law, a family man, a religious man, etc..

Just because he's out there having fun doesnt make him a bad guy.

Just exactly what has he done to deserve such tags. LOL.

Did he curse at a fan? NO. Did he belittle anyone on the field, NO. As a matter of fact, you're very own warren sapp said he loves playing against the kid because he can give it right back.

And lastly, HE PLAYS BETTER when he's 'animated.' Unless it starts effecting his play when he's 'animated' then its a problem. But from what Ive seen from him since college and the pros -- the more he gets like that, the better he plays.

Case in example: Last years game vs. Cinci down by 24, vs. Denver down by 17, vs. Tennessee first time around down by 16, etc....

As long as he's not killing, doing drugs, killing dogs, associating himself with known thugs, beating women, dui, etc... I am fine with it. For the love of God, the worst thing to come out of his mouth is, 'gosh dogget.'

He's our 'problem' and I LOVE our problem.

Someone is in serious denial.

Was T.O. having "fun" when he went out to the star at Cowboys stadium?

TO and Chad Johnson have been constantly bashed over the years, so I'm not sure where that is coming from. Rivers is something that is kind of uncommon, and there are only four teams left to talk about, hence all the coverage right now. The difference between Rivers and TO/Johnson is talent.

So it's OK to kick people when they're down, so long as you don't swear?
