Simers, a well-documented Chargers hater, makes some good points about the goofball Spanos family. I have never been happy with the Spanos owning the Chargers. As a matter of fact I can't stand the old man. And he makes some good points about the firing of Marty and the hiring of Norv.

But he is a fool (he's also a Raiders fan) for being so polemic. If the Chargers upset the Colts next week, what is he going to do? There is no way he can back-track. Try to spin what he wrote this week.

Actually, I'm glad to see this type of story. I want the Bolts to feel like the biggest dogs of the decade going into Indy, and if they triumph there, going into NE. The Chargers are better as underdogs.

To be honest, I think the Bolts are in a better position to win in the post-season now that in 2004 or 2006. They are on the road, as underdogs. In '04 and '06 they were the favored home team, and they played tight, not to lose. They choked, like the first half of Sunday's game v. the Titans. Now nobody expects them to win. So they will go into Indy with nothing to lose.

It's weird to say that your team is better off winning fewer games in the regular season to get a lower seed in the playoffs. But for this young team being the 3rd seed and the underdog is better.

NOW THAT I've made airline and hotel reservations, the Spanos Goofs and I are going to be in Indy together for the Chargers' final game of the season.

Dude is going to have a heart attack if the Chargers win.

For that to happen, the Bolts have to get the running game going. They can't let the Colts take away LT like the Raiders and Titans did the past two games. The O-line has to control the line. Without Gates, Rivers is not going to be able to beat the Colts with his arm if LT is held to 20 yards in the first half. And Vincent Jackson needs to have another game like he did vs. the Titans. We'll see. I think the smart money is on the Colts. But the Bolts have a shot. They do match up well against Indy and always seem to give Manning fits on defense.

I am curious to see how L.T. plays agaisnt the Colts Defense....the L.T. who runs for 200 yards or the L.T. who runs for 50...The Chargers secondary will also give Manning and company some problems...they NEED to force turnovers....and if they can figure out a way to take Bob Sanders out of the game (which is no easy feat)...the Chargers can be playing in New England on Jan 20th.
