Al should have draft Adrian Peterson

This is not a thread meant to mock Al Davis.

But I watched AP yesterday and I am in total awe of his abilities. You have never seen a running back like this. Here I am a Chargers fan saying this.

Against the Chargers, Vikes' coach Brad Childress finally decided to fully unleash Peterson. In his first 30+ touch game, the rookie breaks the NFL single game record.

Perhaps J. Russell will develop into a franchise QB. The odds are against that happening.....not a knock on JR, just a reality in the NFL.

But Peterson is the real deal....and he is helping a sadsack franchise win now.

The only knock on Peterson I can talk about is that he does run the risk of injuring himself with his style. Not just his upright running, but he also leaps over tacklers a lot, and he gets high doing it. That could turn out to be costly if he lands wrong one of these times.

Peterson could have made the Raiders a team able to compete for the division title this season.

Just an honest observation.

Vikings O-line> Raiders Oline. Vikings Dline> Raider Dline. Moot point. There is a reason the Viks gave Hutch that huge contract. As much as I would love to Have Peterson on this team, with our o-line and run D he would be half or maybe even a quater as productive.

OK. Maybe he doesn't get 300 yards behind your line. Maybe it's only 200 yards.

All day yesterday and part of today I would've disagreed with you, Charger. Then I thought about how Justin Fargas & Lamont Jordan put up numbers behind this line and how Peterson's speed and vision could do much better.

It's amazing that hindsight would've been much more difficult to deal with if Calvin Johnson was putting up Randy Moss numbers because NOBODY in the draft had Paterson as our first, second or even third option. (Joe Thomas) Some of us here wanted Peterson and saw the BEAST in him (I balked at the injuries and wanted Calvin Johnson)

With that said, the Vikings are doing it right with their line. Peterson MAY be the best back in the league next year and beyond. He has the tools to be elite every single touch. But if you have a great line, all you need is a GOOD back, because that line itself can make him great. Ask Excedrin James what a line does to your production. There are weeks when he touches the ball and I say to myself, "Holy crap, I forgot he's in Arizona!"

and shawn roidman should get back on the juice so that your D can stop the run.

you still don't know what type of player JR will be so how can you even say that, and even if we had him did you see us run at the start at the season, and teams started stacking the line (with our no deep threat WR) and our numbers have gone down.

Peterson would not have this kind of production in Oakland, and we'd still be screwed at QB. We made the right pick, we'll see how it works out.

We had a need at QB and if you have seen the way McCown and Culpepper have played, I'm glad they drafted Russell.

Have you checked out the Vikes' QB situation? It's no better than the Raiders.
