Smile Here's what Charger fans don't get...

No team in the NFL is on top every year. Teams like the Raiders, Cowboys, 49ers, all go through periods when we're up and we're winning superbowls or at least winning playoff games; and periods like now when we're rebuilding.

Then you have teams like the Chargers, Lions and Cardinals. These teams are usually at the bottom of the standings but they have periods where they're up too. The problem is, these teams are never really a threat to win a championship even when they're up. Like the Chargers right now. Charger fans love to come here and kick us while we're down. They're mad that we've won our division more, won the AFC more and of course we have 3 superbowl rings. So they celebrate their recent success by trying to rub it in our faces. What they don't get is that they won't be up for long, and despite having lots of talent, they're letting it go to waste. Sure they'll probably make the playoffs again, but they'll just lose to the Colts or Patriots. Soon LT will be gone and Gates and Merriman will be gone and they'll be back in the basement, talking about how they were "pretty good for a few years there".

HaaHaa, rebuilding since 2002? What has 'ol Crypt Keeper Al done to rebuild? Give us some examples besides the 1st round draft pick you guys EARNED by being the worst team? Hiring a kid with no experience to coach the team? Come on now. To rebuild you have to actually be going somewhere, making moves, not just losing and being laughed at.

Ouch that hurts, we have had one since the 60's, your team on the other hand has one approximately every 5 years, so go tell spanos and smith that you really wish your team had not been a laughing stock of the league, let alone the division for sooooooooooo long

Ahhh my friend dischargedup. Our kid coach with no experience has more balls and fire and motivates our team a lot more than good ol norvell, who has the personality of a rock, sounds like he's going through puberty every time he talks, and your dumb team couldn't learn from our mistake in hiring him! But if that's what floats your boat, then go get em tiger! LOL

sorry guess second overall is different, my bad. Picking in the top 5 almost annually makes it so much different

BTW still no team building examples. Let me help you. Miami traded traded most of the receivers for draft picks including Chris Chambers for a 2nd round pick. San Diego cut Junior Seau to make some room in the Salary cap, etc. What have the Raiders done? What's going to make you guys a 500 team next year?

Yeah, yer right...we're all so dumb we have no sense of history

But fear not, I can always come back here... the land where history is relived and retold to countless circle jerks and get an idea on what has transpired so long ago.

Keep living in the past boys and girls...and that is where you'll stay.

At least our "kid coach with no experience" has a chance to be good. Norv has proven that he's a loser and despite whatever talented players you have, you won't even smell the superbowl with him as your coach. It took Norv 5 games to figure out that LT is your main weapon on offense and he should stop letting your hick QB throw to your WRs. Nobody stays on top forever buddy. Your team sucks because even when they're on top they're still not that good.

Let me do some 'splainin.

Turns out the NFL doesn't work on mystical trends and cycles, if it did New England would have never won anything. The best teams start with the best management and once upon a time, you had a good manager there for the long haul and it payed off a few times. Problem is, he no longer understands the modern game and is flailing badly, and the team is following suit.

Meanwhile, we are seeing the opposite trend, our owner is only getting more experienced and has assembled a good staff that is now paying some real dividends.

That is what scares you at night, and also why every thread in the smack forum is about the Chargers.
