Talking Champ Bailey possibly out for the season!!

AP correspondance:

Denver Broncos Corner Back, Champ Bailey may miss the rest of the season. The pro bowl defensive player suffered 3rd degree burns on 80% of his body. Tha assailant has been identified as the San Diego Chargers Tight End Antonio Gates. Bailey was burned early and often by the 6'4" monster Tight End. The final score of 41-3 tells all you need to know. Both teams suck but Denver just sucks a bit more perhaps. God I love football!! GO RAIDERS!!!

Gates is 6'4", but he's a beast. He scorched Bailey badly; there was only one champ in that matchup and his name is Antonio.

Gates is having a monster season, averaging nearly 100 yards receiving per game. I'm telling you Ryan had better have a solid plan to contain him next week.

Dude, at first I thought Champ really got hurt and you were making light of it. After I read your post I almost spit coffee all over my screen. Priceless...

As for Mr. Gates, I am worried about him. When you have him and LT on the same team it is a big issue. I hope Coach Lane has them ready to go or it could be a very long day. Getting Rhodes on the field and D-Burg back is going to help, but this is still a team full of talent and it will take everyone and I do mean everyone bringing thier A game.

As for Champ, do I address a get well card to where he is hiding? Under the bed is it?

He actually was hurt yesterday:

Broncos | Bailey injured Week 5
Sun, 7 Oct 2007 21:13:18 -0700

The Associated Press reports Denver Broncos CB Champ Bailey (quadriceps) suffered a strained quadriceps during the team's Week 5 game. Bailey said his injury does not feel good and is concerned he may miss some time.

That was a good one. Do we put Aso on Gates?

Huff did a good job last year. I don't see why we don't put Huff on him. I think we use Aso to eliminate V. Jackson from the game completely. We can use Routt and Huff to double Gates. But! we need to keep a spy at home to render the LT screen useless. That screen ate Denver up!

You need to bracket Gates w/ a cb and s over the top. Put a LB on him and forget about it.

Gates is too fast for linebackers and too big and physical for any single corner or safety. He proved that on Bailey last week. You have to double-team Gates, and often that won't work. I've seen Rivers throw to Gates in triple coverage and Gates comes down with the ball.

Gates has been a beast this season, and his numbers keep improving with every game. If the Raiders devote too many resources trying to stop him, they will get burned by an LT screen pass or VJ or CD over the top.
