Sources: Raiders pass-rusher Chandler Jones has been placed on the non-football illness list as he deals with a personal issue.
The team has stood behind him and no one has ruled out a return if his situation improves.

The move will free up a roster spot. The Raiders will also continue to pay Jones while he stays home and attacks them on social media.
The Non Football Injury List is a designation that allows teams to withhold salary. The Raiders may or may not be paying Jones’ salary AFTER they placed him under this designation today. They’ve given him two weeks off with pay, now he may have more incentive to get things right and to get back on the field.

Hondo did say something soon. I'm sure we would've all preferred for CJ to play and have a great year. But he's burned so many people out that they should try to invalidate his contract or limit the pay out. Not sure how the league rules work exactly.

Sounds to me like he is collecting every penny of his salary. For now.
We know he WAS collecting his full salary— until this designation. They clearly do not have to pay him now. Are they paying his full salary, nothing or part of his salary? We don’t know. This designation protects the club and gives them options. What if Jones does not get help, or uses this to force a trade? We now have options. He got two game checks and wasn’t even with the team. Yes, the Raiders stood behind him. We likely won’t hear a word about payments from the Raiders side of the equation.
He made most of his money already because we restructured his contract. His salary is like $1.2m or something like that and the rest was a bonus he was already paid this season.
