Rams offered more than two 1st-round picks for Brian Burns last year and Carolina rejected the trade.

rams had no 1st rd pick last yr or this yr, so it must have been 2024/25 picks

generally restructuring is good for the player, bad for the team

Likely more $$$ for next year so if he is dropped next year it will be a heavier cap hit than previously.

Yep, restructure is just an adjustment on how the money is paid out. He was due 22.5 in base salary this year. Base salary is paid out over the course of the season....meaning he will see his full 22.5 million by the end of the season. At the same time, he is a cap hit of 22.5 million this year. By restructuring, the Raiders has converted about 21.5 million into a signing bonus, meaning 21.5 million hits his bank account today.
Much rather see 21.5 million in my account today versus 8 to 9 payments over 17 weeks. The Raiders has elected to prorate the signing bonus over 5 years, meaning the 4.2 million will count on our cap 2 years beyond his contract, albeit a 4.2 hit in both seasons. We save 17 million dollars on our cap this season, but just added 4.2 over the next 4 years. I would imagine he will be back next year, given a 28 cap hit 28 in dead money....with the possibility to again restructure the 11 base into a signing bonus.

We're going to have $50m in cap space next offseason based on today's total cap which will probably go up for 2024.

Edit: Sorry, John already said this on the very 2nd post of this thread, my bad. We were apparently $7m over the cap before Jimmy G's restructure so that $17m in space is actually $10m now probably due to Jacobs contract. There is some wiggle room for moves.
