If this coaching staff ends up being a failure, only one person to blame, Mark Davis, his coaching hires have been bad. We might not win again, until the Bowl head is gone, he probably will never sell, so might be a couple more decades, if Mark lives that long.

At this moment; McDaniels got his first season in which was
not good…in reality the team should improve in his 2nd season
and actually be a better team…Mark Davis had admitted that
he has not done a very good job; compared to his Dad in an
interview a few years back.
Hiring a great coach is not easy; you do have to give the
new guy at least three years to really turn the team around
but if McDaniels goes say 6-11 in 2023; then what do you do;
fire him and start all over or give him another season…if it was
Al he be gone; but Mark will give McDaniels a chance…..
Truth is I would not like Mark to just sell the team because
he is Al Davis son and the raiders are a unique team; I admit
Mark has not done a very good job running the
Raiders but it could change…

As someone else has not so subtly stated, I have zero expectations of him being the next great "diamond in the rough", "Tom Brady" find. However, if you go back and look at Brock Purdy's film at Iowa St. I didn't realize how good he actually was. I'm not a Big 12 watcher so obviously I paid zero attention to any game or highlights with Iowa st in it. But I remember last season after Purdy started stringing together a lot of good performances going back and looking up his games and was shocked at how good he looked. The game they played Jalen Hurts and OU is one that jumped out at me. Purdy was slinging very impressively slinging the ball over the field, yet the guy ends up at the bottom of the draft, so who knows wrt's O'Connell?

After your post, I was looking up Purdy's college stats and they jump off the page, imo. I don't watch the Big 12 in general until conference championship and bowl season either so I had no idea. Iowa State also isn't really known for anything outside of college wrestling and I think it's been years for them in that sport. His stats as a true freshman onward are way better than AO's. Now, AO could be a late bloomer and all of that but I think being close to 25 has helped him look more prepared than the usual rookie.

Depends....if we start at 0-11 and then the Raiders suddenly "click" and dominate the last 6 games, then I'll do a happy dance into the off season. If we begin 6-0 and then melt for the rest of the year, I'm ready to move on. To me its all about how we finish
