Thread: O’Connell apparently very impressive

He might be excellent in this offense. Back in the Carr wars era, I read several times that this offensive genius coach TELLS the qb where to go with the ball. I got crucified and called a Carr lover and all of the fun that goes with it. I found some obscure article during that period that declared that he was trying to do it with TOM BRADY. Tom basically told him to pound it up his ass. Now I’m not saying any of this for the ex qb. I’m saying it because it could and will affect our CURRENT ones. I think McD is a control freak that thinks he’s got Belichick cred. He did this crap the last time around in Denver. The jury is still out on him in my mind

The problem with using Derek Carr as an example to prove a point about McDaniels is that the same issues Carr had during games last season are the same ones he had before McDaniels got here. I'm not saying you're not right, just saying you cannot use Derek Carr as an example. The guy sucked in pressure situations long before McDaniels got here.

He sucked at times and did well in others.

The interception against Cincy in the playoffs to end the game was a killer for me. And this occurred under Coach B in the Gruden offensive system.

Carr felt pressure that wasn't there, didn't use his legs to buy time, and then threw the ball into double coverage for an INT. If only he had moved to his right and bought an extra half second. Waller was heading down the sideline and was going to be wide open.

Some liked Carr, many didn't. I know I liked him until the end of 2019, when I decided that we had seen the best of him and it wasn't good enough.

I thank Carr for his service but still glad he's gone.

I'm not sure the year his injury happened, but after that injury, he never was the same. Played scared and saw ghosts.

Yeah I’m not using him as an example or saying anything about him being here or not. I’m just not sold on the idea of the coach dictating where to throw the ball.

According to multiple former players and staff members of the Patriots and Broncos, what you're saying now and what you said earlier about Brady is true. McDaniels tells the QB where to go with the ball. Brady would do it to an extent but he also would tell McDaniels to pound salt. McDaniels was told to change and he had to adapt. He hasn't adapted to anyone else except Brady. His way or the highway. I want to give him time...but it's also telling when other members of the division hope we keep him as long as possible.

I’m not against change. I’m willing to give a coach time. This guy hasn’t shown me that he’s deserving. He’s a control freak that thinks he’s Belichick and he’s NOT. He’s earned NOTHING. Adams is playing along, but he’s questioned the direction of the offense as well. The arrogance of this guy scares me too. He said he can make any qb all pro, and I think he believes this BULLSHIT. He has yet to prove that he can win games, so I’m not anointing him as anything more than the loser he has proven to be prior to getting the job. Do so at your own peril

It was at the end of the 2016/season, the season Carr was in strong contention for the MVP trophy, before he was injured. He may have won it if he hadn’t gotten hurt and if the Raiders would have won a game or two in the playoffs. I thought we had our guy. He was never the same after the injury.

He got paid after that season.

If this coaching staff ends up being a failure, only one person to blame, Mark Davis, his coaching hires have been bad. We might not win again, until the Bowl head is gone, he probably will never sell, so might be a couple more decades, if Mark lives that long.
