Thread: O’Connell apparently very impressive

Just remember, Mahomes threw like a dozen INTs in training camp and I thought (probably hoped more than thought) that he was going to be a turd which would've helped us immensely. Turns out, Andy Reid encouraged him that those throws weren't the end of the world and something for him to learn from and now I believe his TD to INT ratio is one of the better ones in the league year after year.

I don't see why fans think this team is winning 3 games. Makes no sense to me. Offense is good with a potentially better fit at QB running the system and the defense improved its groupings with LB being the biggest question mark, imo.

And who is the next Brady? No one, and no one will be. Brady is Brady.

Anyways for those stating or thinking "Well, how good of a QB can he be, being drafted in the 4th round"... there has been quite a few QBs drafted in the 4th round and after that have been good quality starting QBs.. Brady is the obvious one, but you also have Gannon, Theismann, Staubach, Bart Starr, Kurt Warner (undrafted).. to name a few.
Russell Wilson was a 3rd round pick,.which is 1 round before O Connell.
Anyways I'm not optimistic that any QB who is a pure pocket passer and has no mobility like O Connell, can really succeed in today's NFL. I hope he proves me wrong, but with our O-Line I find it very hard to believe that a non mobile QB can succeed. I really wish we kept Stidham as I loved his mobility. A mobile QB truly opens up the offense so much more as the Defense has to account for that threat at all times of the QB taking off and running for the 1st down, when DBs have their backs to him. Keeps the defense more honest... but we will see how it goes. Will he prove me and others wrong? Hopefully!

This is practice. In 2018, Carr had a practice where he completed like 20+ straight passes. In 2020 I think he went 7 practices without throwing an INT. Practice matters but it also doesn't correlate to a player being good.

It's doomers. This team should win 5-6 games on talent alone. They are good offensively and good enough to surprise some teams. They'll be below average defensively but will be better than last year. I'm not sold on McDaniels as a coach but he should stumble into 5 wins with this roster at worst

he basically stayed in college one yr too many, if he had come out 2022 he would have been a 1st rd pick or at worst a high 2nd rd pick but he stayed even though the team downgraded in everyway

we should win over 6 games easy and stumble onto 2 to 3 surprise upset wins, as far as the kid goes he would have been a 1st rd pick or early 2nd rd pick if he had come out a yr earlier

We'll see at years end where we stand. I hope most of you are right 6-7 wins. I'll stay with 3...oh well.

Ahhhh... here's the reason McDaniels loved him so much:
"Can be a little too stubborn in sticking with his primary read."

Ahhhh.....you mean a just drafted player has ONE bad habit? Man...that's too bad.....I thought he was perfect!!!!!! Must be the reason he completed damn near 70 percent of his passes against a TOUGH schedule. Damn Stubborness!!!!! (I knew there was a reason)

We kinda went with this when Andrew Walter
was drafted; in the 3rd round I think and he
had like great reviews in college where he broke
records…..they were the days where raiders were
unbelievable bad…remember when Rob Ryan had
like the number 3 defence; but the real story was
once the other team scored; that was game over
because we had no offense to catch up….
