QB issues resolved. Carr, Brady and ?

With so much talk about Carr, and before today, the Brady to the Raiders conversations, I think we might finally have a plan.

I am so glad Brady is retired! I am worn out with all the talk about him, and honestly I was thrilled to hear he retired so he won't come to the Raiders.

NOW- in regard to Carr, and this is coming from someone who has been a Carr fan since Fresno State.

If the Raiders really have treated him like the media and his brother say, Carr is going to put his "nice guy" approach in the closet and force the Raiders to release him. I don't believe he is going to make it easy, nor do I believe he is going to work with the Raiders on a trade deal that works for all parties. He is going to force them to release him, thus leaving the Raiders with nothing.

SO- I say, we attempt a trade, if he balks, pay him the $40 million and force his hand to stay on the roster with a potential back up role after the draft. Then we resign Stidham to a contract friendly number for both parties, draft a rookie QB if we can get one of the two top QB's, and then let the three of them fight it out in the offseason. If Carr is still unhappy, he will be locked in with the Raiders and then the Raiders can let him seek a trade while they have control. The Trade however MUST include players and we hold out for a premier DT and/or OL player.

We then draft players for the lines.

Now- that will also free us up to trade Waller and Renfrow (though I like them, but Waller is injured too much and after the concussion Renfrow plays scared) and the draft capitol we can get will help us for sure.

Release him. Costs 5 million. Keep him. Costs 40 million.

    Another great option

I didn't know it was only $5 million. I hate to see this for him, but I am all in if he won't work with the Raiders to get something for him. Just release him and move on. We can pick up some trade value for Renfrow and Waller.

The way I would pay the 40 million if Carr wont cooperate, would be to tell Carr you will be 3rd stringer with no opportunity to start, if you would like to wave your no trade for certain teams we will trade you. Otherwise cut him and move forward.

Once he sat the final 2 games, healthy, we got a 1 way ticket out of town waiting for him come 2/15. No way you gamble away 35 million dollars of cap space.

Not sure if you trade Renfrow nor Waller at this point. McDaniels basically is a on a win or go home deal and I can't see him moving away from Waller nor Renfrow. If McDaniels has 2 seasons to build this thing, then maybe Renfrow, but I think Waller is someone McDaniels loves, versatility offensively.

Keeping him and not playing him is cutting off your nose to spite your face. Complete waste of money. This is why I’ve said that there will be ZERO compensation for him

Agreed, the 35 million dollars essentially for a dead spot on your roster. Once we sat him to protect ourselves against the Injury Guarantee, why do we keep him. You could have just let him play the final 2 games, possibly get hurt, and then be forced to keep him. Does not make any sense to sit him the last 2 games and reveal your deck. You sit him to protect the injury guarantee...you did that, he's healthy enough to be cut come 2/15.

Many are just saying, “Cut him,” without knowing anything if there are any offers on the table.

    Are there?

We don’t know. Teams are finalizing head coaches, while coaches and GMs are at the Senior Bowl this week. The Senior Bowl is a hotbed for trade talks.

New Orleans just traded Payton yesterday evening. Without the picks they got for him, they were very likely not willing to give up their second round pick (the top pick they had before the trade) for Carr. Now they might, since they got a first round pick plus back for Payton.

The Panthers, another possible fit for Carr, just hired Frank Reich. He’s been on the job, what 24-36 hours. He has also already said he wants stability at QB with the Panthers and he’s tried to trade for Carr THREE STRAIGHT YEARS.

Chill everyone. Carr will be traded now, or he will be kept and then traded after his contract is guaranteed, or he will be released. One way or another, the Raiders will get about $35 million in his contract off our books.

    Let it play out.

I hope we can get something out of Carr in a trade. Brady retiring is a win win for us. We don't get stuck with Brady and it means there is one more team looking for a QB that makes Carr more valuable.

release him cost's us 5 million with zero return, paying him 40 milllion give us 2 yrs of control and lots of trade value for desperate teams and the team that trades for him take over the guaranteed money
