So what's the succession plan?

Sadly, it looks like DC is moving on. I've read and heard lots of different scenarios as to who the next QB will be for the Silver and Black. Obviously McDaniels, Zeigler, and Mark Davis have not shared that plan, but all I have to say is they better get it right.

The most obvious and popular scenario I've heard is Tom Brady. It makes me sick to my stomach and I've been throwing up for weeks now at the thought. If this truly is the plan, someone please tell me how a 46 year old QB, who is one hit away from his career being over, and if he does manage to stay healthy, might have one or two years left, is a better option than a 31 year old top 10 QB in Derek Carr, who probably has 10 years left, give or take?

I've got news for you. How did a shaky O-line and sub par defense do with Brady last year in Tampa Bay? Brady had one of the lowest QBR's in the entire league when under pressure, went 8-10 as a starter, and should have been no where near the playoffs with an 8-9 regular season record. As you all saw with your very own two eyes, Brady and the Bucs were destroyed in the playoffs.

A shaky and sub par defense backing up Brady, sound familiar?

Jimmy Garoppolo? Who can't stay healthy, and has been a beneficiary of having strong teams around him. This is Brock Purdy all over again.

Aaron Rogers. Yeah, let's take on a 60 million dollar fully guaranteed contract, trade premium assets to get him here, and watch a 40 year old Qb play for a year or 2. Makes a ton of sense?

Who else? Trade for Mac Jones? Really? You would take Mac Jones over Derek Carr? If you say yes, please don't ever post on this board ever again!!!!!

Draft on unknown commodity? You all know that draft is a crap shoot. Yes you could get lucky and draft the next Patrick Mahomes or Josh Allen. You could also draft the next Mitch Trubisky and Zach Wilson, just to name a few, and set your franchise back 4 or 5 years in the process.

McDaniels has failed Derek Carr. Period! He has failed all of us to date. Instead of trying to up grade the O-line and build a championship winning defense, he's placing all blame on Derek Carr, essentially placing the failures of this years season on DC and making him the scapegoat.

I can't support this. McDaniels already has a damaged reputation. Whether it was being the coordinator during all those Spygate and Deflategate winning seasons in NE, to attempting and getting busted for Spygate himself with the Denver Broncos, to accepting the head job with the Colts, only to renege on his agreement, after the fact when assistants had already accepted roles on his staff.

To now alienating DC, the best QB the Raiders have ever had.

This is sad and pathetic and for the first time in my life, I can honestly say that it is NOT a great day to be a Raider!

This feels like Marcus Allen all over again on some levels. As I stated earlier. They better get this right. Because if the succession plan fails, and DC goes on to a new team and lights it up on a year in and year out basis on a Super Bowl contending team, there won't be any home fans left at any of the home games anymore. You thought the Niners and the Chiefs games were bad in terms of overtaking Allgiant, you ain't seen nothing yet.

Soon enough we will know the plan. But someone, anyone, please tell me what plan is a better option than shipping out DC and going with a new QB?

I do too, but you are again drafting an unknown commodity, who has no guarantees on being a great QB. We again, already have one in the building. Why risk it? Why not give DC a great defense that he has never had? Why not continue to build a dominant line in front of him? Why?

Here’s why the Raiders are moving on.

They have paid Carr about $150M over nine years for two winning seasons, two playoff appearances and a consistent losing team. His contract average is $40M, one of the top 7 contracts for QBs in the league. He has regressed in terms of his performance in the red zone and he has one of the league’s worst completion percentage in the red zones, at least the past two years under two different systems. His passing yards to TD pass ratio was among the best in the league ore-injury, but has been among the worst since then.

McDaniels and Zeigler came in thinking that Carr was going to be “their guy,” but his performance this season showed them Carr’s glaring flaws.

In short, on a scale from elite QBs to average QBs that are a dime a dozen, where does Carr’s performance lie? He’s much closer to average than elite, when you examine his performance closely.

So, what is a stronger team, an average QB paid $40M per year, tying up a large percentage of your cap, or an average QB paid commensurate with his performance on the field with the money freed up to add two or three top-tier free agents?

I think the plan is to rebuild this team, perhaps with Stidham starting the season with Jacobs re-signed, our defense rebuilt and our offensive line strengthened, while drafting a QB in the late first or early second round to groom for the position.

Carr a decent QB, he has never been great but if he did have a defense to back him; he might have had a better career with the raiders with more wins...

Basically the raiders need to start over and that drafting a QB, and if it Richardson who is not ready for the NFL; then I will still be happy with the pick...

One thing that scare me is that Mark Davis will go after Tom Brady in which I would not be happy with as I think his playing days are near the end...

You mean when the defense held the Rams to 3 points going into the 4th quarter? Then the bed shitting QB threw for one first down and 10 yards the entire 4th quarter and hung them out to dry...
