What is sad is we fans saw this issue for months and now they start addressing it. Note we get another 7th rounder. I think that makes 5 or 6 ....lol
Well, though a bit late in the game, at least they are trying to do something about it. My guess is, if McDaniels is here next season, there will be a run on OL in the draft and via free agency for this team. I haven't known an offense in football that functioned well with a bad OL. I would think this one isn't any different.
Herron started 10 games for the Patriots over last two years. For most teams, he is a backup. For the Raiders, he will probably be a starter.
How is it that McDaniels didn't make a run on OL in free agency this preseason. He's an offensive coach. He had to see weakness in the Raiders line.
It's good they are bringing in players, but there are still a lot of free agents with much more starting experience on the market.
we have also had some injuries further reducing our depth
ps i saw a blurb somewhere on the kid and had positive grade for pass blocking on pff metrics
JUSTIN HERRON
G, LAS VEGAS RAIDERS
Raiders acquired OG Justin Herron and a 2024 seventh-round pick from the Patriots in exchange for a 2024 sixth-round pick.
Josh McDaniels gets a deal done with his former boss. Herron, a four-year starter at Wake Forest before being drafted by New England late in the 2020 draft, will join a Vegas offensive line graded by Pro Football Focus as the NFL's 15th best pass blocking unit and eighth worst run blocking unit.
I will always hope for the best, but this doesn't remind me of a huge change in quality, truthfully. As others said above, for us he is starter material, for the majority of the league, he is plug and play spot starter if needed.
