The whole NFC south is possible. Some rumors they may be trying for a top QB as well either my moving up OR standing pat and hoping someone falls. Alternatively they have a decent roster that had shit coaching and shit QB play...a trade for Carr (we get their 2nd rounder) could elevate that team to being the favorites in that division.

    The “experts” are wrong again.

If Carr is released, he can maximize his compensation? No, because another team won’t give him a $40M contract in free agency. They may take on his $32.5M guaranteed contract this coming year, and guarantee another $7.5 M the next year, but they would also restructure his deal as soon as he’s in the door.

So, the Raiders won’t allow Carr to seek his own trade? I probably wouldn’t either. Carr can shop his services from team to team get a deal with the understanding that he will just waive his no trade clause and become a free agent and then sign.

So, the Raiders are basically telling Carr, team A is willing to trade for you. He can say yay or nay. That’s how this is going to work.

And the Raiders CAN retain Carr’s services, play hardball with him then make his life miserable. No reps. No opportunity to even compete for a starting job. Carr would want out.

Bottom line: There’s a little bit of chicken going on now. Carr is playing it. The Raiders are playing it. Note how the Raiders have never said their decision to move on from Carr was final?

It would really suck for him to do nothing and collect 40 million. That’ll teach him! Give him the Marcus Allen treatment. This organization looked foolish doing that to Allen. Not a smart move and a bad look.

Then kick in the rumors that McDaniels is on a 2 year deal, Mark gave him a throwaway in 2022, "to see what Carr has." NO playoffs in 2023, McDaniels is probably gone. So handcuffing yourself with 32 million on this year's cap. McDaniels and Ziegler, poker players?

This all goes back to the contract Zig/McD gave Carr last year. They were more concerned about the ability to get out of paying Carr.
Carr got full control of where he goes. The contract should have been structured so Carr's guaranteed money kicked in a little later in the year.

The no trade clause they caved in and allowed was NOT smart. The timeline they agreed to for full guarantee on the salary was weird too. The whole situation has been handled poorly IMO. I’m expecting ZERO compensation for him due to screwing up on these details. Carr must’ve felt like he needed to add these in.

I think it's a given that McDonalds is gone if the team doesn't improve in 2023. He has to make the right choices on free agents, draft picks, and who the QB is.

Playing hardball with Carr doesn't make a lot of sense. If they are planning to release him, why would they care who he talks to.
If they are planning on retaining him, paying the money, and later trying to trade him, why piss him off? Even if they are just hoping to get anything
for Carr before the deadline, why piss him off?

Agreed, they really wanted Carr as QB in 2022 that bad. I mean he had 17.5 million on his deal left all we did was guarantee that and another added a 7.5 million dollar signing bonus, guess the "hometown" discount Carr gave, was returned with the no trade clause and an early guarantee of his 2023 salary. Do you offer him more signing bonus to back the guarantee date 2 weeks? Do you offer more signing bonus to remove 10 teams from his no trade clause? At this point, we got a look, did not like Carr, Carr now in the driver seat come 2/15.

I can confirm the raiders will squat on him if a deal is not done by the feb date
