Colin Cowherd breaks down a reasonable trade that makes sense for both the Texans and Raiders.

I know getting Watson doesn't fix our defense but I bet Coach is salivating at the idea of Watson coming out of the tunnel for the Raiders.
    1976
Ken Stabler ranked 1st in TD passes and 4th in yards passed

    1980
Jim Plunkett ranked 14th in TD passes and 22nd in yards passed (he only started 11 of 16 games, replacing Dan Pastorini)
Pro-rated to an entire season he would have ranked 7th in TDs and 10th in passing yards

    1983
Jim Plunkett ranked 12th in TDs and 13th in yards passed (Marc Wilson started 3 games)

    2002
Rich Gannon ranked 5th in TDs and 1st in yards passed

    For comparison purposes
    2020
Derek Carr ranked 11th in yards and 11th in yards passed

Why would anyone want watson? We were told by people on this board that it doesn't matter the team that surrounds them, a QB "franchise" QB will will a team to victory. Watson won 4 games last season. He's a loser. Watson also had a better defense and better receivers. Similar o -line pff ranked them right next to each other.

Don't worry; when Watson join the Raiders and he score 55 points on opening day; and the defense give up 58 points...he will be asking for a trade on the next day

Exactly. There is no guarantee he won't pull the same demands with a different team. Fix the defense!

    WASHINGTON GETS THEIR QB (CARR)
RAIDERS GET THEIR QB (WATSON) AND OFF LOAD MARIOTA AND CARRS CAP COST'S
TEXANS GET WASHINGTON 2 1ST RD PICKS (WASHINGTON) OUR 1ST RD PICK AND A BRIDGE QB IN MARIOTA AND SAVE CAP COST'S

Derek Carr QB, Las Vegas Raiders
Las Vegas Review Journal's Vincent Bonsignore writes "multiple teams" are expected to pursue a trade for Derek Carr.

The Raiders "figure to at least listen", especially if offers include multiple first-round picks. Carr's contract is very tradable for both parties. He'd only cost the Raiders $2.5 million in dead cap if traded, and the acquiring team would have Carr for two years at about $20 million per season, all non-guaranteed. Carr finished eighth in expected points added (EPA) per dropback last season and will only be 30 years old in 2021. Bonsignore lists the Colts, Bears, Patriots and Washington as potential suitors, along with the Texans if Deshaun Watson is actually available. If Carr is dealt for draft picks instead of players, the Raiders could turn to Marcus Mariota, who is due $11.4 million this upcoming season, as their short-term answer. But the big dream certainly is to flip Carr and the Raiders' own first-round picks into Watson.
That would be great and Id take that all day but scenarios like this feel like pipe dreams to me. It requires a dumb team(Washington) to give up two 1sts for Carr instead of just going after Watson themselves presumably because Carr would be cheaper in the long run. Yeah hed be cheaper but IMO its a lot to give up for a quality stop gap when possibly another 1st rounder could solve your QB situation long term.

Carr would be an upgrade for several teams, but as long as Watson is in play I dont see why they wouldnt up the ante a bit to land him instead. AFC South teams are the exception as Houston surely would not want Watson to end up in any of those places. I wouldnt give two 1sts for Carr to hold the fort down for a few years till I could make a play for a franchise QB when theres a franchise QB available at the same time as Carr. Maybe a team like the Colts who may feel like Carr is good enough for them to win with now and Watson is not even in play for them.

The offense would be the same. Watson got a lot of garbage time scores. The were behind a lot and he scored a lot late. When Carr did it he sucked, but when Watson does it, he's great. People on this board have very short memories. Watson won 4 games last year. He beat Jaxs twice. the lions and Patriots. 0-8 vs playoff teams. Do people forget that he blew down a 24-0 lead against the chiefs in the playoffs. Fans want to hang Carr for not getting a first down with a 3 point lead. After the 24-0 lead. the next 4 drives, 18 plays, 82 Yards. One score in the last 8 drives of the game. last 4 drives when the game was out of hand. 1 score and 200 yards. Garbage time Stats.

Carr also lost to the Jags two seasons ago. Lost to the Patriots last year. How many turnovers did Carr have in that game himself? Can't really point to a playoff performance from Carr to criticize though..

Yep, the way he slid out of bounds then let Minshew drive right down the field showed his true colors. Lol

Can we analyze Carr vs Marriota with a year under his belt. The division we are in the only way to win is either have a QB equivalent to Mahomes or have a ferocious defense. If Marriota can be a top 10 QB, he would fit the bill. Trading Carr would allow us to build a defense that could be a nightmare for the QBs in the division.
