    That is the problem. It doesn't "work out."

    US history = Not a factor

    Racism = There is none

    Basic communication = Incapable

    Solution = Personal responsibility

    At least Gruden acknowledges the potential impact of what is "not happening" with some of his players enough to speak on it in public. Maybe a leader like Gruden could learn something from you.

    --Insert sarcasm here--

    "That's the number one thing right now, is looking into every man's well-being," Gruden said. "They have families, moms and dads and wives and kids, friends. I'm worried about this virus. I tell you I know people that have lost their job over this virus, people that are struggling right now. And there is a lot of hatred out there and it really concerns me. I pray that everybody can open their heart and get on the same team politically, socially, and always."

    Oh wait...damn, that's an article written by your #1 journalist...Hondo Carpenter...did Gruden even say this? Cuz Hondo is a "hack"

    Here's the interview link so you can hear what the Raiders HC said:

    Heroes are for children, so I'm not surprised. Your sarcasm is so uninspiring. You're doing great!

    The difference has been pointed out. Black Lives Matter is a phrase that should invoke awareness about systemic racism still prevalent in this country. It also happens to be something that politicians have attached or condemned due to its emotional charge.

    I can understand reluctance to the political association from one side or the other, but you should try to understand the point, rather than trying to tell black Americans what they should be focused on.
    focusing on black lives matters without addressing the largest single reason why blacks get killed is asinine,systemic racism is a lie also te fbi #'s don't lie,black on black killings is 95% worse the cops vs black thugs/criminals and black abortion have killed off 1 million black babies,its the single largest reason why blacks have now moved to 3rd place in line for help with teh democrats,its also why blacks are only getting table scrapes these days and still living in shit holes...wake the hell up voting for democrats for the last 50 yrs has exactly done zero for blacks ...fact

    I need to truly understand what "systemic" racism means because I look around and look at our last POTUS and his administration and wonder how can the US have systemic racism. I know there are numerous people of color who are senators, governors, mayors, police chiefs, fire chiefs, etc etc and I wonder where the "systemic" racism is. I understand there is and always will be racism to some degree everywhere on the planet and from every race but I simply fail to see "systemic" other than what I mentioned above. Affirmative action is truly an example of "systemic" racism isnt it?

    Have you ever read any of Shelby Steeles books? I just finished "White Guilt: How Blacks and Whites Together Destroyed the Promise of the Civil Rights Era". Phenomenal read written almost 20 years ago but very applicable to what we are experiencing right now.
    Thanks for the civil reply Ima
    Hey Xram—apologies for late reply. Bottom line from the link Insent is that we have not “created” the solution yet and creativity thru music is one way that Marsalis says can help bridge the gap of understanding for one common cause. What Marsalis says is applicable and pretty fascinating when you consider that the solution must be a shared vision all Americans can participate in.

    I haven’t read Shelby Steele, I will check it out as well since it sounds valuable. Truly appreciate the dialogue that seeks to understand and not condemn, even if we disagree at the end of our understanding. Respect makes a difference in communication.

    Systemic racism is something that persists in the education system, religion, business and in other social areas. As example, we all recall the story of how Christopher Columbus discovered America. Truth is that there were already dark skinned people on this continent when Columbus and others came. Another example in education is that history of black people started with the Trans Atlantic slave trade and / or black history in America.

    The criminal justice system holds systemic racism as well from failed legislation and political policy like the war on drugs as it disproportionately targets black people.

    At the same time, while I agree that this country holds more opportunity for black America now than it ever has, the complexity of the problem and then the solution with historical context is necessary for all of us to create the country we want to see. White guilt is not the answer, relating to other citizens thru a common cause is the start of an answer. The principle that injustice anywhere, is injustice everywhere should be strongly considered if we are in fact all connected.

    I happen to believe we are all connected, even if we disagree and have a hard time relating.

    Will leave you with this quote, which I think leads us to a change that we have not fully realized:

    “We assume that what is in our head constitutes social reality. But, reality is very messy.the difference between the tools we use to try and understand the world and the way the world is in its messiness. The social world always exceeds our ability to fully comprehend it. And if we do not understand that, we will never move in the direction of revolutionary change, which is what we need in this country right now.”

    I don’t need to wake up as I’m not fooled by Democrats, Republicans or anyone else. I’m not selling anything here. The FACT is that black on black crime is a separate problem with a separate set of action than police brutality. You do not eliminate the latter by resolving the former.

    If you want to ask me a question about black on black crime and how it should be addressed, do that. But, your response — AGAIN — diminishes the point of the problem in the first place. You want it to go away as it has transcended the street and come to reveal itself thru pro sports. Start by asking the right questions for the purpose of seeking an answer, rather than dismissing the problem with presumptive attitude.

    Or, do nothing. Both responses from you are more of the same. You should be proud to be in the same intellectual spectrum as Rudy Giuliani. The failure exudes complete ignorance and therefore any responsibility in finding substantive resolve.

    How many black people shot or killed by cops weren't breaking the law?

    Same goes for white people!
