    Bryan edwards

Bryan Edwards WR, Las Vegas Raiders
Raiders coach Jon Gruden said he won’t shy away from playing rookies despite a limited offseason.

“We’ve been good at fast-tracking players at every position,” said Gruden. “We’re not afraid to play the young guys, but they’ve got to earn it.” Henry Ruggs is expected to start Week 1, and Gruden's comments are a good sign for third-rounder Bryan Edwards, who was cleared for the start of training camp. Edwards outproduced Ruggs in college and would have been a top-40 pick if not for a pre-Combine injury. Even on a crowded depth chart, Edwards should be in the mix for a top-three role. There’s some Darius Slayton to Edwards as an overlooked rookie with talent to find his way into snaps.

He's much better than Slayton but could put up similar numbers in his first year, if he gets playing time due to an injury. Carr compared him to Anquon Boldon the other day. If I were to put a comparison on him it would be DJ Chark. Both had terrible Qb play in college. Chark is faster and a little slimmer and Edwards has better hands. The comparison would career path. Edwards isn't going to come on the scene his first year and put up 1000k. He has a veteran and a 1st round receiver in front of him. I would see something like 30 reception and 400 yards and 2 td's. He might have a big game at the end of the season when Ruggs or Twill is hurt and doesn't play. Maybe he gives a glimpse of what he could do going for 7-125-1. But after TWill is gone and Edwards is a starter in his 2nd year. 75-1100 8 td's in year 2.

Assuming HRIII and Edwards are the real deal and can contribute immediately....combine them with a healthy TWill, Renfrow, Waller and Witten....then add in JJ, Bowden and Richard as targets coming out of the backfield....Pussyboy has weapons galore to throw to.

Sounds good on paper doesn't it ?

Still would like to see another RB to help JJ carry the rushing load....but if Gruden stops being so conservative and Pussyboy throws a pass longer than 5 yards occasionally....and the OL stays healthy....we should be able to put up points this year. Should be no problem to markedly improve on our 24th in points scored ranking of last year.

Benched or traded then replaced by who?
Because so far the suggestions the passed 2 years aren’t adequate.

AGAIN, Despite his HORRIBLE record, there’s a reason Gruden/Mayock & their analytical team wanted to keep Carr over the MANY QBs available in FA and draft the last 2 years.
1/2 the fan base will have to continue in misery. Carr will remain the guy unless a Russel Wilson, Mahomes, Watson become available. or we get a top pick to draft a Trevor Lawrence.

your forgetting marcus mariota or the possibility of aaron rodgers in a trade,i think carr has his finest yr this yr with all that talent around him but there is a chance he shits the bed also

    Rodgers:
Giving up 2 1st rounders for a 37 year old? GB would demand 2 1sts next year because of the record breaking $35M cap hit in 2021 if they traded him.
In 2022 when he was 38, GBs dead cap would “only” be $17M for a trade. So they may be fine giving him up for ONE 1st + change.
Is a upper 30s Aaron Rodgers who is clearly passed his prime, better than Carr PLUS those multiple high draft picks (And their low cap #) made by Mayock? Of course not.
Mayock said they were interested in ascending players. It’s why Brady was never an option, after it came out “Raiders never showed interest” as Brady said.
If his own team believed in Rodgers, they wouldn’t have traded away picks to get his replacement. They would have traded up for Aiyuk or Jefferson, or stayed put for Higgins, Pittman or Viska.

    Mariota:
Dudes a project that Gruden was going to try and rebuild during OTAs, camp, and pre season games. At worst he’s a ok backup. Which is worlds better than what we’ve had at backup in years.
    Hes not taking over anything.

aaron rodgers value took a hit when green bay traded up for love, everybody knows that,so green bay lost leverage,i just want to point out that rodgers and carrs pay are the nearly the same going into the future so rodgers contract is not a problem for us to take on

If I'm not mistaken, Mariota is the highest paid backup QB in the NFL.

While it's true that Mariota might not be taking over anything, it's also true that after 6 years Pussyboy isn't firmly entrenched as the RAIDER unquestioned franchise QB, despite what Carrbage and his fan club would like to believe.

Pussyboy had better put up points this year or Mariota will get a chance.

I am curious what the Rodgers trade market will be.
So many QBs playing late into their careers, young blue chip QB prospects coming in the draft. The QB market feels a bit saturated.
2022 feels like the trade year, but what will they get for him?

DC’s making about $20M per year this year, 2021, and 2022. That’ll be among the lowest paid NON rookie contract starting QBs in the NFL.
If he shows out with new and healthy weapons + a legit NFL average D giving him support, we’ll have a damn good value the next couple years.

    ***Compare that to:
Cousins making $31M & $45M after this year.
Goff making $34M & $33M after this year.
Even Rodgers with a $36M & $40M cap hit after this year
