Mike Mayock thinks Raiders 'need help at wideout'

INDIANAPOLIS -- Mike Mayock might be wearing a Raiders shield on his chest, but he sure hasn't lost any of the ability that made his press conferences a must-attend event.
Mayock held court Tuesday in the Indianapolis Convention Center, as he has annually for years as one of the most respected voices in the football scouting community, and provided plenty of excellent quotes and insight as always. But his most coveted knowledge is confidential these days, as Mayock is no longer here to share his research with the rest of the world, but use it to make the Las Vegas Raiders into a winner.

    5 starters in the 1st 4 rounds.
2 solid role players in the late 4th - 5th round in Moreau and Renfrow

An 8th pick, jury is still out on Isaiah Johnson

Also pick up UDFA in Ingold and AJ Cole

That's 9 spots sewn up on your roster.

With 5 picks in the top 3 rounds, that's going to be a nice haul, minimum come away with 3 more starters....hopefully more with those 3rd rounders. Then find a couple pieces in the 4th-5th rounds again......

    Solid class of rookies.

Raiders more interested in LBs. Problem is, besides Simmons, none are stand out 1st rounders.

Good chance they take the perceived better value of a Jeudy rather than reaching for a Queen or Murray.

Wouldn't rule anything out though. Could even be a corner.

Trading Pussyboy should net us a 2nd that MM wants, plus 20 extra million to play with in FA. Might pull a shocker and go for Love.

All depends on MM's evaluation and team need.

Of course, Jeudy will go to waste with Pussyboy, but should be fine with our next QB.

Better off trading up for Tua, IMO.

    Swing for the fences.

Mayock talked about the issue with rookie WR's. It's the same for veterans. Learning three positions, the only reciever on the roster for two years has been Ateman. How do you throw to receivers that don't know where they are going? This was the major issue, Jones and Davis started games and came in mid season, Davis was eventually cut. They were clueless. JJ Nelson and Ryan Grant started games and they were cut. I'm guessing the didn't know the playbook. That leaves Tyrell Williams. Who by the way ran the wrong route off an audible in the end zone, which led to an interception. It's difficult when you don't trust the receivers. Williams will be healthier and be better this year. Jones will be better. Mayock will find the correct rookie to start. If it's the 1st, 3rd or 4th round.

Patrick Queen wouldn’t be a reach at #19.
The guy is shooting up draft boards. It’s no longer a given he’s even there.
Daniel Jeremiah has him as his #15th overall prospect.

He was the best defender on a stacked LSU defense.
Plus he’s about to kill the combine.

The Raiders were very close last year. Anything less than 9 wins in 2020 and we are heading in the wrong direction.
