I don't see a huge gap there - Carr had 105 less pass attempts, 5 less TDs, 2 less INTs - a HIGHER YA (yards per attempt in case it isn't clear). Nobody was calling for Gannons head that season. IMO people need someone/something to blame, and Carr has been designated that scapegoat. He is a decent QB, who can get the job done when he has the proper tools. We built our offense around AB, and when that blew up, we made do. And were still playing relevant games in the last week of the season.
He's not been the same since his injury unfortunately. Carr's stats are also inflated quite a bit (garbage time stats vs prevent defense)

Actually he played good the first two games after the broken ankle. It was the broken back, he came back to soon and he should have shut it down. I don't think he was 100% last year because if the back.

Gruden is known for his 10 play 9 minutes drives, but if you're not getting TD's at the end of them, it's a deflator. This goes squarely on the QB, especially when we have a WR that is 6-4 and a TE that moves like a WR, at 6-6.....failing to score in the red zone is on the QB, when you have tools like that. It was on that same red zone opp against the Titans where Carr turfed it on 4th down, where he missed his first read....Waller on a 1-1 matchup with the defender backwards.......you miss that, you might as well not cash your check that week. To come to the media and say nothing was open? SMH.
A lot has to do with playcalling. Running on first and second down doesn't help. Running reverses doesn't help either. When the QB has one shot, and it's third and over 5. % are against the offense to pick up the first down and if a penalty happens. False start or a holding, even more difficult. So it's not solely on the QB.

Agreed, when you have Tyrell Williams running open across the middle, WR worked hard to get open, but Carr misses him. Waller did everything he was asked to do at the goal line, but Carr didn't throw the ball. Definitely a team effort the line is giving him time to miss open receivers. Gruden is doing a great job calling plays getting us on 10-12 play 10 minute drives, couple times a game, but yes a penalty here or there will kill the drive. The Jax game is huge example of this perspective, several times we got 1st and 10 inside the 20 and ended with 3 points....that is a killer. Carr had that game won on the scamper, but ref called it wrong.....again if we convert 2 of those red zone opps to TD's we win the game. When your margin of W-L is a thread....every little thing counts....and as the QB, he needs to be the difference maker. He's fumbled at the goal line....twice....neither time on 4th down..... he's turfed the ball on 4th down, with the margin of a thread....do you do that?

Those 10 minute drives are nice. Keeps our shitty defense off the field at the minimum. They'd be a lot more meaningful if they ended with touchdowns though. We saw far too many red zone failures last year.

To start with, we shouldn't be relying on 10 min drives all the time. An occassional quick score would be nice. Hard to do when Pussyboy doesn't like throwing the ball farther than 10 yards. Don't bother trying to blame that all on the WRs either.

Obviously what should be a lengthy drive can easily derailed by penalties or a turnover. It's going to happen.

    There's other factors though.

Carrbage can dink and dunk us down the field, but when we get inside the 10, things get much tougher. All that easy underneath stuff isn't easy anymore because things are congested and there is no longer an underneath.

Our play calling was way too predictable at the goal line too. Way too much Ingold up the middle.

Saw Carrbage miss out on some ridiculously obvious and easy TD runs that were there. We all almost had a heart attack when he ran for an easy TD against the Chargers. We were shocked and celebrated like it was the greatest run ever when it was actually just routine. We've been conditioned to expect Pussyboy NOT to make a play. Have we ever seen Pussyboy execute the easiest way to score from inside the 1 via a QB sneak ? Forget about it.

It's actually comical the way Carrbage won't air it out. I remember LMAO when Waller ran for 80 yards and saying Carr finally completed a bomb.

I'm not saying our failure to put up points is all on Pussyboy, but he is directly responsible for much of the problem.

    Just the facts.

Because the team is so bad every play is magnified. People expect perfect play from a QB, that will never happen. The only perfect QB's go against the Raiders defense. Every QB fumbles and throws picks. It happens. We have an extremely difficult offense to learn. The receivers were not picking it up as fast as Carr. Carr had an extra year. But the receivers were lost. Every receiver on the team, except Ateman. Was brought in this season or midseason. That doesn't help the red zone offense. Guys running wrong routes or not showing effort because they don't know where to go. Mayock brought that up yesterday in the press conference. He said rookies, but veterans are the same way. Just because you played receiver in the NFL doesn't mean you know the playbook overnight. It takes time. I read something yesterday, I think it was Vic Cafur said that the Raiders signed over 25 receivers and 25 linebackers since Gruden has been here. It a huge issue that hasn't been fixed in two years. I could be off by a couple. It was at least 50 combined.
