He said:
“I told Davis when hired, I will look to upgrade every position, every offseason, and some people will have a problem with me saying it”
That just gives people fuel to speculate.
Like last year, it’s going to slowly sink in. Carr is our QB next season.
upgrade the team at the QB position, even a little, Carr is gone. And did you notice how he talked about Carr's yards thrown and completion percentage, but then talked about lack of points scored?
Last I checked, completed passes and yard thrown don't mean diddly squat if you don't score points.
Last point: What did you expect Mayock to say, "Carr is being traded?" Imagine the value of Carr if Mayock said he is gone.
Mayock is one smart cookie. If he wants to trade Carr, he will never say it -- until after Carr is gone.
I expect a GM to look to upgrade every position on the team, all the time. That's his job! I'd expect him to say no less.
robbie anderson or if we draft cee dee then go after nelson agholor to be the medium targetceedee, twill, renfrow and agholor would be tough to stop, add in waller

He doesn't want to trade Carr. Mayock knows how difficult it is to find a QB in the draft. What Mayock was saying is that the Raiders are able to move the ball. They had one of the highest % of 3rd down conversion 7th in the league. They had problems in the red zone. Some of it's playcalling, some if it's lack of talent on the outside and some of it's on Carr. Not having a threat on the outside makes the field that much smaller in the red zone. When we get a threat on the outside this offseason, we should improve to a top 10 offense in the red zone. It will also open Waller up to single coverage. Jacobs will also be a threat out of the backfield in the red zone. Something we didn't utilize because of pass pro. I really like Mayock. He is everything out last GM wasn't. Knowledgeable, personable, competant, drafts well and accepts responsibilty for bad decsions. He said it was on him that the linebacker and receivers we incompetant. He will improve both this offseason. He also knows that this team lacked talent and everything could not be corrected in an offseason. We will be getting an influx of talent on the defensive side of the ball.

That's right.
Here's MM's entire combine presser:

Pay particular attention to Mayock emphasizing how important pocket awareness is. He makes it a point to mention that he's repeatedly asked the best QBs if pocket presence is something that can be learned or whether they always had it.
Mayock explains that the answer he got regarding pocket awareness was invariably "it's something I always had".
In other words, it's an innate trait. Not one you can learn.
Mayock goes on to say 'Either you have it or you don't'.
Anyone that's watched Pussyboy knows he doesn't have it. His pocket presence is abysmal.
Mayock also talks about the importance of being able to go through reads and find the open man.
Anyone that's watched Carrbage also knows that he's a one read pussy that can't get the rock out of his hands fast enough. He might get hit otherwise.
Mayock isn't going to say he's unhappy with Pussyboy. There's no point in that. That would only reduce his trade value.
Read between the lines. Mayock doesn't have to come out and say "Carrbage has terrible pocket presence and is a one read pussy.'
He knows it. Every knowledgeable Raider fan with a pair of eyes and a functioning brain knows it.
Kicking Pussyboy to the curb can't come quick enough. Should have been done years ago.
If the Raiders can get a 2nd for Pussyboy and open up 18 million in cap space, they'd have to be fucking nuts not to do so.
What do you say if you want to sell your Carr and get top dollar?
This is a great Carr. I love it. It runs and performs well on the open road. (Now if you would like to make me an offer, I'll consider it.)
or
This CARR has transmission problems and has a miss in the engine. It left me stranded twice in the past six months, failing to get me home. I'm trying to get rid of this clunker!
Mayock is smart. He knows that Carr isn't the answer, but he also doesn't want to hurt his trade value.
I picked up on the same things you did, Raiderman818. Last I checked, percentage of passes completed (especially if so many are thrown at or behind the line of scrimmage) and yards thrown for (especially yards gained between your 20 yard line and the opponent's 20 yard line) are practically meaningless -- unless you score.
