Nice breakdown on what our rookies are doing this year. Isaih Johnson wasn't even mentioned and is starting to show promise.
Props to Mayock and let's hope he can hit on so many next year.

nobody is laughing at mayock or gruden now, nobody is talking shit about derek carr now
Gotta hope that Ferrell and Abram pan out in some way. Reggie was good at finding late round gems too.
I don't get the meaning of "falling in his lap" - as opposed to what? What else can you do but to wait until a guy you want is still available when you draft? I'm confused.
For instance, what's the difference between drafting Carr and drafting Josh Jacobs?
We really wanted Nick Bosa. So, if Nick Bosa "fell into Mayock's lap" - that would diminish this draft?

Mack fits that description due to the fact that he wasn't expected to be available at 5 and two teams reached in front of them to take other lower ranked players (thus, falling in their proverbial lap). The same could be said for Josh Allen and the Jaguars this draft. Carr to a lesser extent in that both Manziel and Bridgewater both went before him.
Khalil Mack was the best draft pick we had in almost 30 years. Hard to call that falling in his lap considering we were heavily linked with Mike Evans and Mack that entire time.
Franchise DE/LB along with a franchise QB and then a starting guard is our best draft in a long time. It takes teams 20-30 years to hit on franchise QBs some times.
Right and he was expected to go top 3. Getting him at 5 was a lucky, hence the comment about falling in our lap. It was definitely Reggie's best draft but it certainly didn't take much intelligence to take Mack or Carr where they fell to us. Gabe was definitely a find and Reggie was always better at finding later round gems.
Having the overall best draft "pick" in over 30 years in comparison to having the best "draft" in the past 30 years are two different topics. This past draft was the best "draft" we have had in the past 30 years as minus Quinton Bell, every single draft pick, along with the majority of undrafted rookies we yielded have made significant impacts to turn this team into a competitive, sky is the limit team..
The Mack, Carr, Jackson draft was talent filled without a doubt at extremely important positions, but doesnt come close to the influx of OVERALL talent and foundational talent that this past years draft provided. To hit on all of those picks is nothing less than an "amazing" draft. Add to it that these were not favorable picks at the time and criticized for overdrafting/ reaching.
However I do want to take a step back and mention this is only based off of 10 games so far.. to truly judge it, let's look back on it in another year or rwo.. then we can really see the true impact (whether good or bad)
