Hockey and football are not the same. To many times a goalie can stand on his head for a series and carry a team. 1 player can't carry a team in football.
Oooh shit bring the popcorn out lol
It's true though and you're buying into the bullshit Gruden is selling.
If he was so concerned with having high character guys, why trade for AB and sign Burfict?
Why bring in Daryl Worley?
Fuck character. You can either play this game at a high level or get the fuck off the team.
Character off the field is important in the sense of staying out of trouble, not getting suspended, staying focused, being available and being prepared for battle on Sundays.
Character on the field means knowing your role and doing your job. Supporting your teammates.
Of course a team loaded with high character but little talent will likely win less games than a team loaded with talent but short on character.
To take all the marbles, you need both.
Guys with questionable character can sometimes 'see the light', change their ways, mature, and eventually be considered players without a character issue.
More likely that a character turd will remain one, but some do reform.
On the other hand, if you don't have God given talent, you never will.
Best you can do is make the most of whatever talent you possess.
Yeah, character is important. We've all seen extremely talented players wash out due to being poor character assholes.
But talent is probably more important because a guy with high character but little talent isn't going to take you very far in the NFL.
Agreed. These are hardworkers, Worley is a rarity, a physical corner who will mix it up in the run game. These are Gruden guys. Burfict draws 15 yarders....so does Marquette King, but Burfict can take out an important offensive player......King is just dancing around on a donkey.
you can have both types on the team, its no mutually exclusive, you got your foundation pieces and you add talented pieces around it
