Reggie's mess?? It's really amazing to read this nonsense. The team was in cap hell for years, 99% of this board screaming for a GM, ripping Al Davis (RIP) for not being in touch with the game.

Reggie has done a more than credible job. I love how people love to put aside the Mack/Carr draft, sorry that doesn't work. That is part of his tenor as GM and i challenge you to find another GM in the league that landed two franchise player of the caliber of Carr and Mack in the same draft.

You couldn’t have dumped Carson Palmer? This awe and fascination of RM for fixing the obvious is really weird. Then we give him credit for a draft so far back the players are entering pay day and the RM fans barely realize we have little cap space left....oh and we’ve played in one playoff game with RMs coaches thank you very much. While most teams expect a two or three year plan to deliver we are headed for six with the owner finally picking a coach not RM. thank God....

Not much of a mess, minimal rookie contracts, FA contracts that don't have much dead weight.....if Gruden can draft lower ceiling guys that can start from Day 1.....rather then going the GB way, of finding athletes, with high ceilings, that can be starters in Year 4, but are too inexperienced to start even in Year 2. Imagine if the Ward selection and Calhoun selections were proven NFL starters from middle Year 1....that's how much you save in free agency money? 3-4-5 million dollars that are spent patching 2 holes. Now in year 3....do we rely on those guys to "get it" in Year 3....or draft behind them?

I also give Reggie credit for not being tempted and piling a bunch of money into signing bonuses, which kills future cap space. Total agreement that if you hit....not even hit, but get an NFL starter in Rounds 1-3, that's 6-9 holes that you don't need to worry about....instead he's drafting guys that are 3-4 years away.....if they are even NFL players....Menelik Watson....he's wasting 3-4 years of rookie salaries.....to get a guy who won't even be productive until Year 4....then he's a free agent.....you're wasting 3-4 years....this is not a league where you see guys sit on the same NFL roster for 8-10 years, you need to get guys in that can produce from Day 1....in the least....the first 3 rounds of the draft. You're not going to get Mack and Carr every year, but a Gabe Jackson caliber player for the first 3 rounds in 2015(Cooper, Edwards, Walford)-2016(Joseph, Ward, Calhoun)-2017 (Conley, Obi, EVD) If Walford meets expectations, we save Cooks 6 million dollar salary.....Ward, Calhoun? can't even get on the field....another 3-4 million dollars that could have helped other positions....MLB...CB.....Conley, Obi, in their 2nd season.....but count them as rookies as well, given their time spent on the field last year.....EVD.....2nd ACL tear in January.....who knows when he gets on the field, but to get back to his pre injury state, means a lost year this year in the least....so was Jelly resigned to address that.....it goes on and on. Hopefully with Gruden in town, he can start to see a player....then just plug him into his system in the same position....rather then tinker and think he can be good in Year 3 at another position doing a new job.

The Green Bay model everyone believe RM applies isn't the right model now. When the league adopted the rookie contract cap it changed. Now rookies are far more important to be on the field and delivering. You've done a great job noting how much failure costs as in the TE position. Oddly enough I don't even see Cook as having been that much of an upgrade over the two we had. It is at the top of the draft the RM lets us down the most. Everyone likes to note Mack and Carr that is passed. Its time to for another Mack and Carr draft if we want to have a winning team.

RM has some talents. I'm not hating on the guy. He sucks at hiring coaches. He's great at contracts. He's not superior in drafts, but he's done well with UDFA's. The problem is the failures are costing us and the successes are not over coming them.

Yep, he has an eye for late rounds guys-UDFA, King, Carrie, to name a couple. But he has to start taking advantage of the salary cap rules, mainly the rookie contracts, great you hate to trade your picks, but you need to take advantage of it....make it work for you....too many reaches, too many guys who might be productive in Year 4...you get guys that you have to shelve for 2-3 seasons because of inexperience.....hoping maybe they will get it at some point between Years 1-4.....
