Long is my first choice by far. 14 sacks in a non sack position(3-4 DE takes on blockers to open things up for LB-ask Gholston) tells me he will be even more effective when he is actually turned loose like Gholston was. I just don't feel like Dorsey fits but I will not be dissapointed if he is the pick. McFadden to me is a perfect fit in the Bush role in this offense and since the draft is really about two years from now as opposed to next year I look at him as the player that will compliment Bush or carry the load (depending on Bush's health) when Fargas and Rhodes are over the hill in 2010 and add instant scoring this season. I don't belive in GHolston or Ellis as a top 5 pick.

C.Long
McFadden
Dorsey
J.Long
Ellis
Gholston

Id personally take gholston out of all of them
you can stand him up on obvious rushing situations where theyd slip a guy like richardson in on the line and put him on the line during passing situations. his versatility is what i like about him

Nostalgic? Yes.
A run stopper? No.

Vote Dorsey or Ellis for DT.

My name is Raider68 and I approve this message.

i like the read, but i believe every player can be good or great depending of the system and enviroment they are thrown into to me all those guys mentioned above will make a lot of fans in raider nation happy(for the exception of the d-mac lovers), personally i believe c. long would be drafted by the raiders if he's there at number 4, but if we draft gholston and use him accordingly (ala merriman) there's a chance we could make a statement, but as i said before anyone of these 4 would make me happy.

Chris could start straight away with this Raiders D. If he's available we can't pass on him.

and to the Rams taking McFadden.... it's weird I had a dream that the Rams took McFadden. We also ended up getting Chris Long, but after trading all the way down with the Packers and Long was still there for us.... I dunno, it was a dream!!!! and ontop of that I am all for drafting McFadden...
Dude I think you should lay off this site for a while, or maybe just the Draft Room forum... When you start dreaming about this stuff, you've got a problem haha!

The best post I've read in quite a long time. Well done Ace. I like your writing style ... a nice mix of being objective, having an opinion, and a sense of humor.

I would be thrilled if Chris Long is available at #4. Long is a throw back, pure, tough football player with above average football intelligence and instincts. Analyst keep talking about Long having a "ceiling" on his ability. I say BS. He showed at the combine that he has above average physical talents. He showed in the college games that he played in that he is VERY productive. There are no worries whatsoever about his willingness to be coached and improve his technique.

Long joining the S&B just feels right on every level ... heart, mind, and spirit. You are exactly right Ace. Chris Long would give Raider fans a well deserved feeling of hope.

I think not drafting DMC is really what we have to do and draft any of these guys... BTW we only get a 1st round selection and then we pick again until the 4th right???? That kinda sucks big time

Great read.... Chris Long is molded after his father and thats one hell of a father to have teach you football. But unfortunately there is virtualy no way we get Chris Long unless we trade up and I doubt we have anything anybody wants ahead of us. Glenn Dorsey has to much potential and hype behind him to make it to number 4 but if he does slip to us then it's a no brainer. To me the most logical pick if you like him or not is Gholston. Chances are that he's going to be there and Burgess is in contract year and I don't think he will resign with us unless we offer him a big contract with some guaranteed money to make him happy upfront. Ellis I think would be a great pick but I'm a SC fan so I'm biased but we need help in a major way against the run.... McFadden is just not a logical pick with all the RBs we have but damn it would be so sweet to see McFadden, Bush, and Fargas do some damage next year.
