Has no quickness, or side to side speed?? What do you think the shuttle runs look at? He blew away the field at the combine in those areas. Now none of us know how this will translate to the NFL, but your assessment is wrong.

As BlindBat pointed out, his combine stats are:

Fastest time in the 60 yard shuttle
Fastest time in the 20 yard shuttle
Second-fastest time in the cone drill

He'll be better than people think. His dad used to be a boxer and is now a police detective. The kid is tough and probably knows a good deal about hard work.

i admit that i know nothing about this pick, but at the same time, i don't understand the reasoning when we could have used it on a OT prospect like Tony Hills who was still on the board. and to go with Simpson, is he a better player/prospect than Lavelle Hawkins who was still on the board? it wouldn't be the Raiders without at least a couple of wtf moments in the draft...at least it wasn't in the first round.

Thumbs down What in the world is wrong with us!!!!!!!

Last year we give Moss away for a 4th???? When Moss was worth (at that time) at least a 4th,5th & 6th. And got who??? Bowie!!! Now we go and trade a bad but not that bad Washington to the Ravens and draft Who? Who is this guy??? Another wide reciever that will not play or make the team. What a waste of time. I rather keep Washington!!!! Why didn't we just do a package deal???? Like Washington, Jordan, Schweigert. Who ever is drafting these guys the last 2 years can not be Al Davis??? Davis just is in on the #1 pick........I am extremely piss't

Quit complaining...Everyone was saying how we have to get rid of Washington and now that we do people complain. Get over it. The trade is done and that is that. It's not like we can take back the trade. And also who cares about Randy Moss? All that matters now is our new receiver shields makes an impact for this team. I think he will be pretty good, who knows maybe he comes out to be better than randy moss (unlikely) but anything is possible.

Well if Shields works hard he already is better than Moss was for us.

For Al Davis heaven must be a room full of WRs and DBs. Right now I ain't gonna be mad at the crazy ol' galoot 'cause he got us DMC. Let's just hope this lives up to even half our expectations.
